A1cntrler
I have a AVIC N1, but upgraded to the N2 software a while back. Now I read about the bypass that can be done on this and want to do it myself. Just to get this straight.... Are there or are there not two leads that can be soldered together to make it work regardless of in motion or not, or will this not work since it is the N1? If this is the case, how do I revert back to my 40 series software to simply ground the parking brake??

A1cntrler
I saw that one, but two posts below that one says that that is the power supply and it will fry the unit..... *edit* I see the new one added... Has anyone actually connected those two and had it work?? How would you go about getting to that board, and what would you use to connect it?? Could a circuit tracer pen do the trick?? Guest
A small wire is required. It is the same thing the shorting resistor (wire, solder, tracing pen) does on the N2 and the same thing as the switch on the N3. The parts are really small, and the unit takes care in taking apart and reassembly. The flex cable for the screen it fragile and will tear easily. The flat cables and sockets that attach the keyboard, dvd mech. are also fragile. The hardest thing is that the components are TINY and require the work from someone who is really good working with this small of work. A magnifing lamp would be crutial or magnifing glasses, steady hand, fine tip soldering iron, and the right tools. It does work! If you study what the switch does in the N3 service manual, you can apply the approach to ALL PIO DVD navi's.
