Question for installers about non-permanent adhesive surface

Recommended Posts

I want to mount the metal plate for my xm antenna and gps antenna on vinyl (on a surface underneath my rear hatchback window). I don't want to use the adhesive bottom of the metal plate because I heard that it's really permanent and if you remove it it can leave marks on vinyl. I'd like to have maybe a velcro surface for the metal pad with a non-permanent adhesive on the bottom of the velcro surface (I hope this makes sense, it's hard to explain), but any other non-permanent adhesive that will stick to vinyl will work for me. Any ideas?

Thanks guys for all of your help on my successful install.

3m double sided tape will work for you. Just make sure you get the stuff with the red backing. The tape itself is a dark gray in color and about 1/16" of an inch thick. It'll stick well and with an alchocol pad will remove any residue left when you remove the tape.
