MiamiHeat
I ordered the Z2 yesterday and called Crutchfield for the wiring harness. The Tech then tells me the Z2 won't fit in my truck(2004 F250). Please tell me this isn't so!! There has to be a way. Is there a lot of trimming involved? The truck has what appears to be a double DIN but I found out it is actually a Euro DIN. Some pics would be fantastic!! Please help guys, Thanks
MisFit
its not a problem, just a little trimming. done it plenty of times. sorry, dont have any pics though
caadoptees
Miami, I have an '03 that I will be putting my Z2 into. I have to wait until NEXT weekend! I will try to take shots as I go. Do the same and we can compare and maybe make up a install guide for these years.
eramos70
Earlier post of a AVIC Z2 in a ford250: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6295
caadoptees
Thanks for the link, eramos. Unfortunately that is for an '05. They are much different from '03 & '04.
eramos70
I installed a Z2 in my 2004 F150, however don't know if the radio panel is the same the 2004 F250. Your welcome
caadoptees
Wouldn't that be nice. My initial gut guess would be no. I couldn't imagine that they would be the same. Makes too much sense.
eramos70
If you need any radio wiring diagrams, let me know.
MiamiHeat
Miami, I have an '03 that I will be putting my Z2 into. I have to wait until NEXT weekend! I will try to take shots as I go. Do the same and we can compare and maybe make up a install guide for these years. I think the '05 link will be helpful in that the trucks are very similar except the actual fitment in the dash. I really don't want to trim my dash panel as I have the Harley Edition and want to keep it unmolested. I wil do some more research and keep you posted. I am thinking I may have to get an interior trim package for the truck if I do in fact end up trimming the original dash panel. I will take pictures. Please repost soon with your as you will probably be installing before me.
caadoptees
I have posted this in other threads but I thought I would post it here because it is related. Here is a link to my install pictures.
99 rs
^^ I just read your entire install. Great job. Pictures and what you did were nice and easy to follow. I wanted to put the D3 into my old man's 04 F350 but now have decided not to. Damn Ford's.
jimmy303
Best Kits makes a kit that works, you have to file the dash opening a bit on the top and bottom, but nothing needing an engineering degree or tools from NASA. The part # is BKFMK552, and you can see it here. http://www.bestkits.com/ViewImage.aspx? ... FMK552.jpg
