  1. The only way that I know of is to have the NAV screen up. In the lower right it shows the current media selected (iPod, for example). Immediately to the left is a 'button' (I don't know how to describe it). To the left of that is the current road you are on. If you press that 'button' the road info changes to the current track. Is that what you want. PS. I have had my Z130BT for about 1 week now (replaced a 6 year old stolen Z2). Roger
  2. OK Joe! What about the post to help us out?
  3. Had my unit stolen out of my F250 today. Have had it for over 4 years. The door was getting problematic. A little long in the tooth. Can you see me trying to soften this blow here? If this happened to you, what unit would you get to replace it. I had the XM addon, the bluetooth addon and the bypass. What would have all three of these features and more potentially? Looking for ideas. Don't know yet what the insurance will do.
  4. Thanks to Hyperite. I have successfully put on the new version and the 2 wire bypass is doing great! I had a bit of a problem with the initial software load hanging at 10%. I reset the unit and the load continued to 100%, then it actually put it on the HD with no hiccups. Paypal trans#: 1J485271BM908001A
  5. I get the problem if my interior is too hot. I can sometimes see a succession of symptoms. If I am driving, I will loose some detail on the map. The next time I start it, I will not get past the blue Pioneer splash screen. If I am playing from the music library, it will start skipping the songs, like you say. If it is on XM, FM, or a CD, it plays fine but I cannot change channels/tracks. After it cools down it operates OK again. This is a known problem according to the threads in here.
  6. I use it all the time with my Z2 (that is when the unit is not too hot). Yes, it does need to be on the right side of my steering wheel. The IR sensor on the Z2 is between the 'V' and 'Vol' buttons.
  7. So something like this? It helps me to redraw mine to match yours, I learn more that way.
  8. That would not be too helpful. I was trying to replicate what the parking brake would do. Would I need to have the light between the battery and the tap then? I don't know what the Z2 is looking for, I guess.
  9. I realize the SUPPORTED way of hooking this up is to actually tie to the parking brake. I am interested in mounting a switch that I can 'fool' the Z2 in to thinking is a parking brake. I know this isn't much different than using the parking brake, but the brake is awkward to set/release in an F-250. I see in the wiring diagram that the wire is attached to the positive side of the switch. Does it sense voltage flow when the brake is engaged? How could that be done with a switch? You would have to have some type of load, you don't want to just go to ground! If I got a switch with a light
  10. It is my understanding, I have not tested it, that if your brake wire is hooked up correctly, you need to set it to do any navigation. I would like to be able to do navigation while stopped without setting the parking brake. Hence the request.
  11. Z2 is in. I initially had the parking brake grounded. I would get the parking brake error. In doing some reading around here, I ungrounded the brake wire, reset my Z2. No message but missing a few functions. Regrounded the wire and now get the message back. What is the correct sequence to have the brake grounded but no message?
  12. I have posted this in other threads but I thought I would post it here because it is related. Here is a link to my install pictures.
  13. Got my Z2 in. Here is a link to the steps that I took. Hope it helps someone out.[/url]
  14. You can't just tape it off, you need to either hook it to a switch which you only use while stopped or to the real parking brake... there is no bypass for the Z2 and if it's not hooked to anything, you won't get into many Z2 features. To get rid of the pop up message either pull power from the unit or hit the recessed button to the right of eject. I am about to install my Z2. What features are lost if the parking brake is not hooked to anything?
