Guest
Im installing a Z1 into my 4runner and planning on installing some new speakers. Will I have to install an amp for new speakers to sound much better? How much power does the Z1 provide and how much of a difference would an amp make?
ducatiboy
I got BA S85's and really like them. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... t=speakers I don't think I needed a seperate amp for the main speakers. Just a powered sub. I don't try to rattle windows in the next county, but I like moderately loud really clear music. I like the amps with the Z1, I think they do a good job, and no worry about any ground loop alternator whine.
TNEGG
I've been a long time BA fan, but I just installed some FoCal speakers that just shame the BA's. They are a little more than the BA's, but waaayy worth it. There are some others here that have these speakers.
ducatiboy
Where can you find the Focal speakers? I have never heard of them till a couple people mentioned them here.
TNEGG
I got them at a local dealer that I really don't like dealing with. I paid $260 a pair for the 5x7's. I can get the number for you. They do ship. I had never heard of them either until I went by on my last attempt to find some good 5x7's. I was simply amazed at the difference. Then name of the place is David's Car Audio in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I have a website for FoCal somewhere. I'll post it as soon as I find it again...
ducatiboy
Nah, that's alright. I probably wouldn't actually buy them unless I heard them myself. I have heard good things, but I probably wouldn't be able to hear the difference anyway. :)
TNEGG
I didn't think they were worth the extra money until I heard them. Here is the website http://www.focal-america.com/Products/O ... cator.html It looks like there are quite a few dealers so listening to them might not be a problem. Guest
I was planning on installing infinity kappa perfect 6.1s in the front and back doors, and getting a 520W infinity 4ch amp for power. Im not planning on getting a sub bc I dont want to sacrifice the space. Ive read a lot of people dont get the same speakers in the front and back - Im assuming to save a little money. Would anyone recommend a different set up or have any suggestions? Thanks
ducatiboy
I like the kappas. But out of everything, I like the powered sub. I know they aren't cheap, but you can get a powered sub which is not that big at all. Some are 12x12x4 or so. Not that big, some can go under the seat. I don't need base to shatter windows, but I like a little more bass fill than 6" midrange speakers can provide. Just MHO.
