2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and D3 or Z2: Too Deep?

I'm told by Crutchfield the 2004 Grand Prix only has 6.6" of depth, but that at least the D3 is 6.9" deep, and so it won't fit. Anyone know if there's a workaround, or if they're simply being too anal?

Yea there is a piece of plastic on the grand prix in the rear that you can remove if need be.

Cut the plastic, though I didn't in the 06 I did not too long ago. Funny thing is crotchfelled sent the guy a single din kit and told the guy to cut the kit to make the avic fit. We got him the double din kit and he was a lot happier doing it that way.

wow..using that single din gm kit would look so ugly in there

Tell me about it. Someone there wasn't thinking.... They do use metra too, that's the sad part.

hello, i have an 04 GTP, with avic installed, i had to cut the back piece out and install the metra dashkit...works perfectly

Like everyone else said... it's possible.

 

My friend installed a Z2 in his Grand Prix and we had to remove part of that as well.
