cntrylvr79
Depends on the plug. If it's like most of the mercedes I've worked on the one you need is a 40-vw53. IT's an amplifried adaptor. The blue wire on it goes to the blue wire of the avic. That could be the cause of your lack of decent reception.
abraDAMN
thanks... i will look into the exact model of the adapter. my model mercedes is very standard. all the c-class sedans/coupe headunits are the same from 02-04 and thats what i have. i appreciate the quick response! and will let you know once i find out if that fixes it. thanks! cntrylvr79
Then it "should" be that adaptor. You're antenna is in the rear glass right. It's not a regular whip style antenna.
abraDAMN
yes... it is built into the rear hatch. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdet ... er=265-594 i just read that this is for the "roof antenna". so it looks like its the one. fak! its such a pain to put in one plug. off topic: i've been looking into rear cameras and wondering what you would recommend. here is one that caught my eye: http://www.boyovta.com/products/vtl300.html but i dont know how the quality/performance is. any recommendations? cntrylvr79
I'd pm paisannyc about that camera. Looks like the same one I put in his expy. Yeah if it's on the roof too, you'll need that adaptor.Always forget about that part.

Hi, I've the same problem on my C Class. I searched on internet for the 40-vw53 adapter but I didn't see Mercedes Class C in the compatibility list. Have you tried it ? I found this one : http://www.audiooutfitter.com/40vw12/metra/p69761.html Metra 40VW12 but I don't think it's an amplified adapter. I don't know if the reception will be better.
