ducatiboy
Yah, I like the one breaking through the glass, that would look cool on the screen. Should make some car logo's breaking through glass or something.

negri21
I just put that size pictures on a disk and copy them to the hard drive? any place in particular? and what are the exact sizes?
IcePegasus
Yes.. you need to create a folder call "Pictures" first. Then put pictures in that folder. Then burn them onto a CD.. then you can load to a Hard Drive. There should be a button that allow you to "Import Picture from Disk"
akarico
Are you saving the files in .jpg format beacuse I remember in one of the posts hearing a reference to a .bmp for the startup screen mods that people were looking in to. I am looking to create some new backgrounds and want to do it right the first time.
ducatiboy
Files imported for "wallpapers" using a CD with the images stored in a "Pictures" folder are stored as JPG files on the CD. They are imported into the unit and then stored on the hard drive as BMP files. I haven't tried putting BMP's on the CD and trying to import them. The manual says that you need .jpg files or .JPG files on the CD and that's what they will import. All the wall papers stored on the hard drive are in BMP format, the boot image and all the stock backgrounds and your 1 imported JPG background are all stored on the hard drive as BMP's. If you are yanking the drive out of the unit and putting it into your desktop computer and after paying a service to unlock the drive you copy over the files, you will need BMP files. If you are transferring the pictures from a CD like it says in the manual, you need JPG files (according to the manual). For a test, try making one a BMP calling it something else and see if the Z1 finds that image.

Guest fred
is there a step-by-step to create bootscreens on the z1?
ducatiboy
is there a step-by-step to create bootscreens on the z1?
Changing the boot up screen? Not really, it's still a little dangerous and very compter technical. Something I woudln't attempt if you aren't good with comptuer hardware (building and ripping apart computers) and with software (managing your own OS, messing with hard drives, etc). I posted something here too: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6457
