Nav Screen Speed Limit not displaying correct info

Recommended Posts

I installed a 6000NEX in my truck in September, 2014. At that time the firmware was at v1.03. In early November, 2014 I flashed the unit to v1.08. Since that time the Speed Limit displays 50 MPH when the actual speed limit is 65, 75, even 80 (Texas) MPH. I had to turn off the audio reminder as it was non-stop "You're exceeding the speed limit" , blah, blah, blah. City driving yields a 40 or 45 MPH on the Nav Screen, no matter what the posted limit is. With the v1.03 firmware, the "posted speed limit" was pretty much what the Nav Screen displayed. If the posted was 65 MPH, the Nav Screen reported 65 MPH.

I've tried a hard reset several times, I talked to Pioneer Support (what a joke!), no joy. Support said there were no updates to the navigation system in the v1.08 firmware, yet the problem only manifested itself after the upgrade.

Anyone else experiencing this problem? Solutions anyone.

Speed limits are part of the map information, so if they are not correct, it's due to the fact that they are simply not correct in the map database.

Guess you'll just have to wait for the next map update, and hope it's more accurate

Thanks for responding. That is true, but I stated in my initial post that the problem started after i upgraded to v1.08 firmware. I used the reset button on the front panel and apparently it doesn't clear everything, i.e., routes and more. I kept poking around in Settings and "DID" find a reset that cleared everything. Once I went through the "full" initialization the Nav Screen Speed Limit is now displaying correctly. What a PITA, thanks Pioneer! NOT!

I finally installed Navitools on my PC, so I plan to back up my stuff, this way I can do a full reset.

Mind if I ask, where did you find the full reset? I have an AVIC-5000NEX if it matters.

TIA,

Don

Hi Don,

From the Nav Screen, tap the Settings icon (the one just above the Phone icon in the lower right-hand corner. After the Settings Menu opens, tap the icon in the lower right-hand corner (on the 6000NEX, it's to the right of the right arrow). On the 6000 there are two selections:

Reset All Settings

Factory Reset

I selected "Factory Reset" and as I said earlier, that resolved the issues I was having after the upgrade to v1.08.

Could you provide a link to the "Navitools" software. I searched using that term and could only find software for CADD products.

Thanks,

Joe M.

I actually mis-spoke/typed, should have read "Naviextras":
