mikemaan
From the WWDC today: "CarPlay: Audio apps, now supports apps by automakers to control things in the car. More kinds of screens, HiDPI. Wireless CarPlay. Apple to get in car without taking phone out of the bag and start experiencing CarPlay effortlessly." Coming Fall 2015. http://9to5mac.com/2015/06/08/carplay-ios-9/#more-383625
kelkin
Didn't they already announce that in 8.4?
DP3343
Didn't they already announce that in 8.4? No. In a developer beta of 8.3 the feature showed up but was never used. It was never officially announced until now with iOS 9. Regardless our radios can't do it. No wifi, and old bluetooth chips. Not in the cards.
dgeffs
After Carplay version 1 there is no way I would consider upgrading to a new radio for a feature that probably won't work anyway or be buggy as hell. I don't know who is responsible for the current offering and lack of functionality but I won't be buying Pioneer next time either. Consider this - if Carplay will automatically be started when an iPhone enters the car what kind of hell will we have to endure to turn this feature off? Knowing Pioneer it will take a half a dozen menu selections that won't be retained. What a fiasco.
