srperalta926 Posted August 12, 2015 Report Share Posted August 12, 2015 Anyone having this issue, I just bought the nex 6000 and i have a pretty decent audio system in my car but for some reason everytime i play the music too loud especially the bass the unit shuts down and then reboots its driving me crazy any info would be appreciated Quote Link to post Share on other sites
rockthebeef Posted August 12, 2015 Report Share Posted August 12, 2015 Please tell us a little more about your system to help us help you. What components does your system consist of? Are you using any external amplifiers? Do you have a subwoofer? My guess is that your powering your speakers off of the head unit itself and have the bass turned up fairly high. That is a recipe for overheating your head unit (thermal shutdown). Bass requires lots of power and that's why separate amps and subwoofers help take the load off of your head unit. If you have to add bass boost via EQ then you probably need more power and a dedicated subwoofer. A well-powered system can run a flat EQ without any type of boost and will still deliver tons of bass. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
srperalta926 Posted August 12, 2015 Author Report Share Posted August 12, 2015 I have 2 external amps, one for bass and one for voice and no speakers are wired directly to the radio only the pre amps are connected. The eq on the radio is set to flat as i have an extrenal crossover and eq set up as well, but like i said everything works fine until i pump up the music and this only happens when using anything but the fm radio Quote Link to post Share on other sites
srperalta926 Posted August 13, 2015 Author Report Share Posted August 13, 2015 For anyone experiening this issue as well I resolved it by running the acc wire on the radio dicectly to my car battery and adding a spst toggle switch in between to turn the radio off Quote Link to post Share on other sites
493008 Posted August 13, 2015 Report Share Posted August 13, 2015 Do you have the amps wired directly to the battery, or through the vehicle wiring? If they are direct to the battery as well, you might want to have your battery checked. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
