installing z1 in a mazda rx8?

Recommended Posts

So my best bud had this z1 installed in his 92 blazer.

He wrecked it, and took out the indash only , because the tow truck guy was there to pickup the truck.

He then decided to give it to me, due to some past debt he had with me.

so this is whats left of the wiring.

the audio controls and hvac controls are on one thing, does anyone here own a rx8 or mazda that they replaced that center peice with a z1/z2?

Am i going to have to go to a custom shop to get this put in?

What you have there will give you all the audio features. What you need for nav functions is

But the other 2 are not necessary. They are just extension cables. A long wire with a plug on it. If you can splice and run wire, you don't need those second 2.

You should check the installation manual, it's posted in a sticky in the hacks/mods section and you can download it for free. But you might need these:

Those hook into the white receptacles on the back of the avic. You will need that first one if you want to bypass the lockouts.

But looking at your dash, that looks like an impossible installation. I don't know anything about RX8 installs, but it looks like more trouble than it's worth.
