AVIC-6000 password reset help please.

Recommended Posts

I disconnected my battery a couple weeks ago and when I reconnected it asked for password which I knew it would. I have tried my password every which way I could think of and it wont accept it. there is only one password I use for everything. im not sure what I am doing wrong or done wrong during setup but I need my radio on my 1 hour drive to work at 5am to help me stay awake. I called pioneer and they want me to send it to them along with $80 after I pay shipping and insuring. I cant see paying this fee for them to reset. I have seen some post about using a SD card on other models but I have not seen it for this model. if I have to pay a cent to reset this thing im going to just buy a new unit of another brand.

someone please help me out here. there has to be a way to do this.

no, it doesn't work. I tried it. It just boots up like normal still asking for the password. My wife had the unit in her old car but we took it out when we sold it. Now I'm trying to install it in my truck but she can't remember what she set as the password. It's extremely frustrating that they would make their customers pay for something like that. I understand using it as a deterrent to people trying to steal them, but If I have proof of purchase and everything they ask for then why is it necessary to charge me? Hopefully someone can come up with some way to figure this out soon.

I pulled the unit out a couple weeks ago and was going to send it off to pioneer and have them reset it for 80 bucks plus shipping. well last night I took a BIG chance and purchased the reset off ebay. basically its a file you load onto a micro SD card and insert the card into the unit while it is powered up and sitting on the "enter password" screen. when you insert the card after a minute the unit will reboot and will come up on another screen. in this screen you can basically reset to factory default. this did reset it and was like you just took out of the box. will have to reset all your settings but I can now use my $700 radio again. I wont be activating the password function this time.

I am new here, but I had the same issue about 3 weeks ago. I also purchased a 'reset' process and files from ebay. It may be the best $35.00 I have spent in a while. The process requires a SD card (32gb max) as the card must be formatted fat32, and files placed on the SD card.

It looks like the files boot the system into a factory menu system with lots of 'options'. I looked around, but followed the instructions and it worked. The reset is not a full reset, as my photos used for backgrounds were still there as were the bluetooth settings. But the password and password request were gone!!!

Good luck.
