Crowell392
I just installed my 8100 today and I can't seem to figure out how to make Android auto work. I am plugged into the USB 2 port, and the icon is still grayed out. Please help this is making my ocd go into overtime.
Crowell392
OK i think I may have found the problem, I'm running a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with 6.0, I think its the 6.0 update that's causing the problem, can someone confirm?
scott_0
my Samsung S7 Edge connects each and every time to my 8100 with no issues, what USB cable are you using? youre not using any extensions or extra long cables are you? I had issues because I was using a USB extension cable, once I eliminated it, no issues

scott_0
I am running the extension that came with the unit from pioneer. get rid of that extension, plug your cable directly into USB port #2 on the headunit

Crowell392
What usb cable is recommended
Multitask
Make sure you have the Android Auto app on the phone. Launch it and THEN plug it in, it might ask you a question about permissions. I've also hear that it doesn't work with all phones regardless of the OS
scott_0
What usb cable is recommended any good quality usb cable, preferably the one included with the phone, but as long as its not too long, any should be fine Make sure you have the Android Auto app on the phone. Launch it and THEN plug it in, it might ask you a question about permissions. I've also hear that it doesn't work with all phones regardless of the OS you shouldnt need to launch the AA app, even the first time, it should auto launch and ask for several permissions
JMG_TX
I ran into this with my S5 (lollipop). As other have stated make sure you have AA from the play store. Make sure you are using USB 2. Make sure under smartphone setup you have Android auto selected. Make sure you have developer options unlocked on the phone and select USB debugging. Enjoy
Crowell392
I have double-checked all of those items and everything is in the correct position my wife's Note 4 Works flawlessly but my Note 5 for some reason I cannot get it to even acknowledge that it's there
JMG_TX
If it doesn't auto launch once connected tap on apps icon and it should prompt you if all else is well.
Crowell392
Well I just updated my firmware on the 8100 hoping that it was a compatibility issue, needless to say that didn't work either.
