yogithebear
Try this, plug your phone into usb 2. slid down the notifications menu. you should have one that says charging. press that. press connecting MIDI device. Does that Help?

Does that Help? Im not sure if the carrier matters, but before I discovered my issue was a usb cable extension, I tried that trick when I was having issues early on with my Sprint S7 Edge disconnecting, if I changed the usb setting to MTP or MIDI, it disconnected, my AA works 100% with the usb setting left at charging.......... Crowell392
Well after further inspection that is one way to make it work but I don't think it's the proper way because HDMI doesn't work either
Crowell392
Using the factory charger cable with no extension cable did nothing different, it still doesn't work

Multitask
I had my 8100 put in my new car the other day and had something like this happen.. Put the USB cable on the USB2 , pluged in the phone (that worked before in the old car) , and nothing happened after some trial and error, I used a different USB cable and IT WORKED , I'm thinking the other one my have only allowed for charging, no data... so try another cable ....
