mjonis
I've got a Pioneer AVH 4000 NEX with the "carplay" firmware update. However, right now I'm using Android. Since AA will not come to this head unit, I'm curious about trying carplay. I'm a little confused as to the connectors required with an iPhone 6s (I don't have one yet, I'm just asking). It sounded like it USED to be you had to have an AV adapter, HDMI cable and the USB cable in order to connect the 4000 NEX to the iPhone. However: With the latest firmware update, what is needed from a connectivity standpoint to the 4000 NEX from the iPhone? Second: Does Carplay use "siri eyes-free" (ie, can I push some button either on the iphone or head unit and from that point forward just speak to it like: Play song blah blah (so it plays an mp3) and then tell it: Play XM to switch to XM on the head unit? I'd rather try to find out as much as I can before I plunk down $800 for an iPhone 6s (or whatever they cost used, or maybe T-mobile will let me try one)
Multitask
PLug the USB cable that came with your iPhone into USB1 and set the unit to use Carplay, and it should work...

So I don't need to buy a Lightning to USB cable, I can just use that to plug into USB (1 or 2, I can't remember off the top of my head), and reconfigure the head unit to Carplay? Nice! Unfortunately I have to use the short cable that came with it, as you apparently cannot use a USB-A "extension" cable to get it to work. So I'll have to see if they have like a 6' Lighting to USB cable.
