kruff10
i have an avic d 3, ok the reverse wire that comes with the unit does it have a fuse on the wire to protect the d3 from any abnormal current coming from the reverse light in the rear of the car, and also what is the fuse rating on that fuse? HiFiSi
No, there is no fuse. It just hooks straight into the wire going to the reverse lamp. You could put a fuse on it if you want, but it's not really necessary, probably because that circuit is already fused. If there was a surge, it would blow the reverse lamp's fuse before it had a chance to effect the D3 I think.
Two_Cold
There is a little fuse on the wire. It looks about the size of a resistor. I have installed a few without the fuse and all is well. If you are concerned you can put in a 10 amp fuse in, but I wouldn't worry about it.
HiFiSi
There is? Hmm... I must not have seen it when I put it in. I stand corrected.
Two_Cold
Here is a pic of the wire with the fuse on it. Easy to miss because it is small.
HiFiSi
I like the "easy to miss" part. Nice touch.

shoman94
Here is a pic of the wire with the fuse on it. Easy to miss because it is small. That is not a fuse... it is a resister.
