PLUS with most manufacturers, dealers that are caught distro-ing to the grey market lose thier authorization. Many moons ago I worked for an IBM dealer, and had to grind off serial numbers from the cases of XT computers that we grey'd. No S/N, no warranty... They're not FORCING you to buy it ANYWHERE. I'd rather buy thru an authroized dealer, pay a couple of $$ more, and have someone that can support/warranty my purchase. Case-in-point, I fried a less-than-week-old Z1, and my authorized dealer replaced it ON THE SPOT. $2,000 installed. Could have shopped it, but I trust the vendors work and ability to STAND BY HIS SALE...

Guest Guest
Pioneer in Long Beach, CA will warranty as long as you have a reciept. It does not have to be from an authorized dealer...as long as the unit is within warranty, they will repair the unit. I had my Avic-80DVD Repaired at pioneer in Long Beach, CA even though I bought the unit off ebay...now that I think about it, they didnt even ask the see the reciept, they just took the unit and fixed it within a week. Cirbirus
$1,490 shipped. 100% manufacturer's warranty. http://www.mytaxfree.com/ViewProducts3.aspx?ID=100 I got mine with the SIR-PRN2 for $1,599 shipped. They are taking their sweet time sending it though... been two days and no tracking number but they say it may not even ship for 48 hours. So, great price but slow shipping. I finally got a tracking number, 8 days after ordering.
ADAMB06
I found this $1,479 pretty good! http://www.sbhcorp.com/scripts/homeViewItem-1565.html
crease-guard
I got mine from 6ave.com with the following package: AVIC Z1--1499 Xm Radio/Traffic--179 iPod adapter--50 Backup Camera--199 Blue Tooth--100 (on backorder) Warranty--212.46 Shipping--$0.12 Total: 2239.58 Way I look at it is that locally it's 2249 for just the Head Unit. So I come out 10 bucks cheaper with the ext warranty (granted, probably a waste) and the other 4 addons. I'll use the backup camera on the front lower end of the car so that I can see the curb as I'm pulling into a parking space and I don't run the front facia up on the curb. I received my unit from these guys within a week at that price, sent via 2Day Air to Hawaii for a reasonable shipping cost. Smooth transaction. ... though (and I didn't check until after I ordered), their online reputation is far from spectacular.
Mindflux
I'm constantly concerend about stuff that is severely underpriced when it comes to electronics. For instance: The Eclipse AVN6600 retails for 1999, but on ebay it can be had for 1500. Same goes for the Z1. It retails for what? 2200? Can be had for 1500? Are these units stolen? Grey Market? What? Seconds?

pt4runner
Ordered mine on Tuesday from MyTaxFree.com $1484.99 to my door..... That being said it still hasn't shipped, a phone call today revealed that they are waiting for their supplier to get more, and are HOPEING that it will ship next week.... then she tried to sell me the warranty, saying that pioneer will not honor warranty for people who bought for less then MSRP…. My only real concern is the condition of the item from MyTaxFree.com, not the long term quality of the product, so I passed on the warranty, I figure I’ll be voiding any warranty within a week of having it anyway…. Also she mentioned that the warranty company will only cover if item is installed by a qualified installer…. Little disconcerting, but who can complain for almost $800 below MSRP. SuperchargedWS6
Another vote for 6ave.com Haven't received it yet but was really happy with the prices. $1500 shipped for the Z1 (from an authorized dealer). $199 for a 5 year warranty (6 in total) that is honored at any pioneer repair center. $100 for the bluetooth (backordered). Their price is pretty much the same as non-authorized dealers. Great deal!
