  1. well thats the thing .the unit still turns on and plays music and you can change the source and volume and all that jazz, but since the face won't open, you can't use navigation or change the playlist on the iPod or really do much of anything outside of basic audio controls.
  2. the reason they insist on the switch is a legality issue to cover their asses. basically all it does is ground and unground the parking brake lead. i have one as well, but i installed mine in the center console so when I get pulled over I just flip the switch and everything acts as normal. it wouldn't be a problem anyways since i dont watch movies while driving around, but just in case. but no you dont actually need the switch to bypass it
  3. i have the same problem. the blue lights on the fron of my unit never turn off either. does yours do that too? i think it was wired in wrong somehow. i can't think of what would have been connected wrong, but i really need to try and fix it
  4. i have the same proble sometimes. it will turn on an play music but the screen wont slide out. i try resetting it and it doesn't work. i usually just get pissed off enough and threaten it an it decides to work. let us know if you figure it out
  5. turns out the 10amp in line fuse was blown. im still confused as to why the wire was still hot on the multimeter, but at least its working again. thanks guys
  6. So I've had my N3 for about a month now and I love it. I disconnected it today and moved it aside to work on installing some other electronics in my 06 wrx. i plugged everything back in, and surprise, my N3 doesn't work. No fan sounds, no lights, nothing. I checked the wires with a multimiter and they are getting current. roughly 12.5v on the ignition wire and .6v on the constant. the ground is working as well. I can't see any reason it wouldn't be working. Ive taken it out before and this didn't happen. WTF!!! Anyone please help with suggestions.
  7. justiz is right. I install ICE equipment and thats one of the biggest complaints we get from soccer moms and teenagers that spend the money to get a screen, but not to have their game systems installed right. We just charge them to hardwire it right to the battery (positive) and the chassis (ground) But you can handle it easily. Tkaes maybe 30 minutes to do it well and hide everything so it looks nice
  8. binderim is right. i have the handbrake bypass installed, but once the car is moving above about 4 mph, the nav and dvd functions quit. since the nav system is internal, it knows when the car is moving so it locks out these functions even though it thinks the brake is applied. i dont know about bypassing this. i thought about putting a switch in to toggle the gps antenna on/off, but i imagine you would have to do that for the speed pulse wire as well. im still glad i have an N3 tho. i love it
  9. not yet, but tomorrow I'm putting in an AVIC-N3 and the ipod adapter and I'll check it out on a nano and video and post it up here within a few days. i didn't think they showed video from ipods, but that would be sweet
