Why would they need a beta version? Its the same as the Z1 and Z2 only with updated maps/POI

Ahh...sorry, guess I'm a bit slow and hadn't kept up with my Avic411 in the past weeks... 
I had a PM about my install, and was linking to their directions, and came across it the other day...
Last I knew, was a new price with additional accessories tht I saw in the latest Crutchfield...

The wait is over, I just received my Z3 today, I am still waiting for the Sirius part to arrive so i can get it installed in my Navigator.

Well so far it looks exactly the same as the Z2 except it says Z3. I will definately post pictures when i get it installed though.I guess you wouldn't mind posting pictures then?

That's what they said about the Z1 to Z2, but there was a bit more to it than that. I'm really hoping there's a few tweaks this time around too.

Where did you get it from?
I ordered one through my supplier before Christmas and he literally recieved only 2 of them on his first shipment and considering i built his warehouse for him, he was nice enough to let me get the 1st one. 
Unfortunately i still havent heard when the Sirus part is being shipped as I would like that installed with everything else at the same time.

Nope, update from Z1 to Z2 also changed quite a number of things in the system software, hence the change of name.
If it's just a map update, no need to call it differently. Mapupdates are a standard thing on all navigational systems, sometimes 2 or 3 times a year. You don't change the name of the system just because you update the maps...

Quite a number of things in the system software? Except for the splash screen, they were all navigation related. The bottom line is, no hardware change, no model number change. Pioneer has always been like that (ex. D1->D2)

Jesus this thread is getting annoying. My point in all this is there is no reason to make the Z3 called anything else but a Z3, as another poster suggested. Do you disagree?

Annoying? Agree. But if it's strictly a map update then I don't agree that it should be given a new name. Simply calling it a Z2-08 would clarify that nothing has changed but the map.
I suspect that more than just the map has changed (as in Z1 to Z2) and would love to hear from someone who actually knows what he's talking about to find out what it is. 
----It would bring this thread back from "annoying".
