After having read this thread and a couple of others, I just went in and renamed the existing files with a new extension (.old). Works just as well as inserting blank .wav files.

I'm not sure how much it speeds the system up, but I get less agitated using the thing...

Anyway, thanx for posting these mods. Makes life alot easier for those of us who want the tweeks and don't have the skills :)

does anyone know where the "tada" sound that plays when you hit the menu button is? I'd like to modify that one as well.

thankx

So this was crazy enough that I had to share it with you guys, but I tried renaming the sound files mentioned by adding a "1" on the end (effectively hiding from the source that was looking for it I think?).

And it turned my map language into French. Anything that had to do with navigation (POI, Home, Navi settings, the main map) got turned to French, even though everything else (and the language settings) was in English. But as soon as I renamed them to the original file name, everything reverted back to English.

So I have no clue if this has happened to anyone else, but in case anyone else encounters it, that's how you fix it.

Bman, this won't teach you how to code, but it will get you closer to seeing the differences after modding a file.

It's called Winmerge and it's freeware.

thanks. this is one of my favorite mods.

to be sure, this should eliminate the "menu" beep as well right? i probably forgot to copy over one of the original wav's cause i am still getting a beep when i hit menu. im going to reapply but just wanted to be sure that it should be silenced.

How did you get there? I looked at all the settings and didn't see that option at all!!

Thank you SO much for this tip. Just got my 700BT installed tonight, and the beeps drove the wife and I NUTS. I fixed it in 2 minutes with this hack!

from the main menu go to settings > navi settings > sound settings at the bottom...dont know why everyone needs to use codes and stuff...

That setting does not turn off beeps in audio playback etc. It only turns off beeps in navigation mode. This thread is still magic.

Used the instructions on this thread for my new Avic F90BT and everything worked great after performing the factory reset. As mentioned earlier, voice commands will not work properly until the reset to factory settings (under the Nav settings) is performed. Thanks for all your help.

Pioneer should be hiring some of the people on this board to help speed the fixes for the problems. I just upgraded from an Avic-D3 and I like all the new features, but some things, like the annoying keybeeps that can't be removed in the settings, are pretty ridiculous. Does anyone at Pioneer actually test these things in their own cars before they shove them out the door??

If it wasn't for the people on this board and the great information I would have returned my F90BT (and probably even my D30) a long time ago. [/url]

Can anybody please upload or pm me the Data/sound folder? I just reinstalled the firmware and maps and that folder dissapeared. Now, the key beeps and menu buttons are not making a beep. I really liked these beeps and I hope I can get them back. If anybody here can send me a copy of these files I would be forever in debt. Thank you for your help.

PSG5.WAV in the same folder, do the exact same as the other sounds.

Posted Jan 23, 2009 · 07:57 UTC#42

I was wondering if anyone has tried DELETING the files? i notice a click or pause where the beep used to be and I wonder if that'd fix it.

Posted Jan 28, 2009 · 21:20 UTC#43

many thanks to the OP for this.. you have saved my sanity to be sure

for mine, i just went into the sounds folder and made a new folder (left it titled 'new folder') and simply dragged and dropped the 4 wav files into it.

after reboot, the beeps were gone! no click or pause that i can detect either. and if i miss them, i can always go back in an drag/drop them back into place. no need for renames or anything. =]

I did the same, so glad to get rid of those beeps.

Cheers everyone.

Just out of curiosity, does everyone create a second long (or whatever)silent wave file or create a completely blank file with .wav extension?

File size is drastically diferent between the two. I have not gotten my new card reader yet to try it out.

I didn't test drive the 900bt before I bought it, only read about it. I started hyperventilating when i realized those beeps are everywhere. They are all gone now, never to be heard from again :D

Why would a hack be required to get rid of the button beeps? theres an option within the nav settings to turn off the beeps for the entire system.

atleast one mine there is

my unit is a F900BT and it has a blue and a white sticker on the box so maybe I have an updated one compared to the first update??

I actually don't mind the beeps, it lets me know the functions are going through when it seems like it might be freezing up

Actually I decided to play with this setting and this is absolutely true!

It does not only lower the volume of key presses in navi but throughout the system.

Lower the master volume down at around 5% first then turn up the voice volume up to where it's loud enough for you to hear it. Key press sounds will still be there but they are barely noticeable when the engine is not on and no music is playing. Otherwise I was not able to hear them, although I like them at that low volume.

I don't see how this could not work on all systems. FYI, my unit is completely stock except the bypass. I was going to make a video of it to prove it works but my unit is out now to work on the trim. I'll have some time in the morning perhaps to just plug it back in and test it out.

Posted Jan 31, 2009 · 07:30 UTC#48

Doesnt the master volume control the warning sound when approaching speed cameras? I like to know I'm approaching a camera without looking at the screen, so I think this can be the only problem turning down the master sound. Not 100% sure, I'll test it out today.

Posted Jan 31, 2009 · 15:24 UTC#49

I don't know about speed camera sounds but should they not work the same as any other navigation warning/sound?

I don't have any issues with any audio prompts from navigation. All still work like they should.

Also, to stop MENU button from making the sound replace PSG5.wav file with your own.
