Hmm, sounds like that is another bug in the archive I posted. I'm not really sure how that's possible, as all I did was make the same changes that I'm using in my personal copy (which has been verified to be working by a couple of other members).

Anyway, I'll upload a new copy at the beginning of the week that should take care of all of those problems.

Wanted to thank Ski and Stephanie for the mod. I got it to work over the weekend and the lack of blue boxes has really improved the experience. You both rock!

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be working on this the next few days to release a more complete version that fixes the bugs some people are reporting.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I've uploaded a new data.zip (you can get it from the link in the first post) that should address the issues people were having with weird behavior.

I believe there is still a bug in Pioneer's code that causes the next turn arrow to not show up some times in 2D mode, but I think I can track that down and fix it for them.

Let me know if you encounter any problems using this latest data.zip file.

skicrave, I was never able to use your data.zip file in option 1 with the DELETE ROUTE mod so I had to manually edit the navigate file using the instructions you provided in option 2. I just wanted to know if you made the changes necessary in the instructions for editing the navigate file as I will need that to update the file.

Posted Sep 09, 2008 · 05:42 UTC#31

What problems are you currently having with this mod? There was a discrepancy between the data file I posted and the manual edit instructions. The manual instructions were correct, the data.zip was not.

I can send you my current file, it has the delete route modification added, and the remove boxes mod functions correctly on it.

Posted Sep 09, 2008 · 06:06 UTC#32

No problem, if the option 2 instructions were correct from the beginning then no need to send file. At first I did download your data.zip but I was unable to edit any of the files for some reason. This became evident once I attempted to do the delete route mod. The solution was the option 2 manual edit of the files. All is well now.

Does this mod only work in 3d mode? When looking at the pics it only shows 3d. I use 2d mostly so will this remove the boxes for me as well?

Good work though!!

Posted Sep 12, 2008 · 18:39 UTC#34

Nope, works in both 3D and 2D, although there is a bug in Pioneer's code that prevents the next turn arrow from showing up sometimes while using 2D, but everything else functions perfectly and the problem is intermittent.

Posted Sep 12, 2008 · 18:41 UTC#35

I think the arrow loses on mine anyway sometimes, i just press "map" and everything returns.

This may be noobish but, when you say install in the directory do you mean: take zip file and unzip it in that folder or should i unzip on computer and put unzipped files in that folder?

Posted Sep 12, 2008 · 18:55 UTC#36

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but I had reports from some members that it worked fine before the modification, which is what led me to believe it was a bug on Pioneer's part. Let me know if you encounter the same issue with this data.zip file, and if pressing map fixes it (my custom data.zip I'm using does not exhibit this trait at all).

data.zip always stays zipped, and should never be decompressed on the nav unit. Obviously you can unzip it to work on the files, but then it needs to be rezipped and loaded on the nav unit in compressed format. The F-Series unzips it (and a host of other files) during the boot up process.

skycrave -- Actually, on all other versions of iGO (and I don't think this one is any different), you _can_ unzip some or all files from Data.ZIP into iGO's program directory.

In this case they override what is inside DATA.ZIP

Very good to know! You're fast becoming the iGo expert, which is something we definitely need around here.

Does iGo always unzip the data file, even if it finds all the files it needs in the directory?

Posted Sep 12, 2008 · 20:43 UTC#39

Not an expert really... but I am reading forums of a rather large skin building community to see what I can find.

AFAIK iGO will load first files form the secondary_root, then from files in the program directory, and then it will look at the data.zip. Files loaded first are the ones that are used.

ok i was able to go to the folder you specified in first post but i dont see data.zip in this folder :? am i missing something? i just started copying that whole folder to my SD just in case, but its saying 25min till its done :x uhh help

edit: did the view / enable hidden files and found it. boxes are now gone yessssss thank u! will report on arrows.

I replaced the DATA.zip file that was in the first post and I'm having an issue w/ the next turn arrow not showing up in 2d mode. I'm showing a modified data of 9/8 on some of the folders when I view it. I haven't unzip'd or edited the contents of the file in any way.

F700 which was original unit (no blue dot) updated w/ pioneer fw update when it came out in july. The next turn box was always there before and after the updates. The next turn box IS there in 3d mode.

my arrows are gone as well in 2d mode. in 3d mode arrowa show up and when the map zooms out to a 2d look the arrows still stay.

but 2d shows no arrows.

Read the posts above. There is a known issue with the factory software that only pops up when this mod is implemented. I'm working on a fix, but don't have one yet.

Posted Sep 18, 2008 · 22:02 UTC#44

stupid question?... what are you using to interface with the unit? is it a PC? are you transferring data through SD card or looking at the unit on a PC?

I'm having a hard time getting this info can anyone help?

Posted Sep 19, 2008 · 02:14 UTC#45

they are browsing the files on a pc that they copied from the unit using a sd card. they can get to these files on the unit by using files from the firmware update to boot into the windows os on the unit.

skicrave, did you get my last PM?

Is the option 1 link the latest and greatest? Are the bugs worked out? Those blue boxes are insane.

Posted Oct 01, 2008 · 18:41 UTC#50

This is excellent, although I'm holding out until the arrow bug gets fixed. Any progress?
