Try booting up normally and calibrating your screen with the stylus. I was having the same problem and that fixed it.
Win CE boot files
Ahh great... I kind of thought that was the problem...
Thanks ![]()
Windows CE works more or less like Windows as far as copying and pasting. The only caveat here is no keyboard, no mouse,...
There's a small Icon in the bottom right, you can click it to reveal an onscreen keyboard. using the stylus to press ctrl and then c provides the results you want.
will this work using a Mac instead of a PC?
Is it just me or is the file link lo longer valid for the testmode files?

Some one else said that today but I downloaded it again no problem. Were you logged in before you posted this or did you have to sign in to reply?
I was not logged in. Once I logged in, I could see the download.
Been reading these forums back and forth since I got my new 900BT a couple of weeks ago. I was glad when I finally found this thread where I could download the files to boot in wince testmode. I really want to remove the .wav files the player uses for button sounds.
But I got a an error message pertaining to maps. Can't remember exact wording. Might it have something to do with my having installed the latest firmware from Pioneer? Or the fact that I have a European unit using Norwegian as the main language?
when do u get the error message, when you try to boot up into testmode? anything else has nothing to do with that zip file
I insert the SD card and and turn on the ignition. The player starts up with splash screen. Screen goes to black. Splash screen returns and pretty quickly afterwards the error message window beeps into place in the middle of the screen. Clicking the OK button in the right hand corner doesn't do anything except freeze the player...
ya you dont have it set up right on the sd card. extract the 2 folders (Testmode and MiTACAP) inside the zip file and put them on your sd. dont touch them after that and it will work. same thing happened to me once and i almost had a heart attack. I thought I bricked it somehow
Does it matter if there are other folders or files on the SD card? Like Voice_TTS-nua-nor-f1?

no as long as those 2 folders are untouched on the root of the SD card you can have whatever else you want on there.
Went out and tried it again. This time I tried to remember the error:
MapDBInfo version on the SD card differs from my unit. The SD card has 1000 while my unit has 1010 (as far as I can remember)
Any suggestions on how to bypass this?
different SD card. I use a FAT32 4GB SDHC card
No, I don't think it's the SD card itself. That part works alright. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the files in the MiTACAP folder. I have a feeling it either has to be the version of the firmware or my location (Norway)...
You wouldn't by any chance happen to know if anybody has posted a European version of the Testmode files?
The EU owners use the same testmode. the unit is picky with the type of SD card you use.
Solved it!
Being the conscientious type I formatted my SD-card and placed the folders on the root. No joy, same error message.
So I checked out the MapDBInfo.txt file and changed the
Area: UC
to
Area: EW
Now I'm in! Any suggestions for a good thread that tells me how to remove button sounds in WinCE?

The silence.wav file is at the top and the instructions are halfway down the first page written by Stephanie.
Windows CE works more or less like Windows as far as copying and pasting. The only caveat here is no keyboard, no mouse, just a stylus and I haven't figured out how to right click.
Navigate to the file you want to copy: Select the folder (tap it once) you want to open, tap the "File" menu, tap "Open"
Copy the file you want: Select the file (tap it once), tap the "Edit" menu, tap "Copy".
Navigate to the folder where you want to put it.
Tap "Edit", tap "Paste". If you're replacing something that's already there, you'll get a warning about replacing an existing file, just tap 'Replace' or 'Ok' or whatever it says.
Cheers!
Found a keyboard onscreen in Windows explorer bottom right hand corner of the screen. Just got into the unit so this info may already be known.
yea most of us new about that keyboard
but glad your learning
This is a PDF with the instructions on how to access the DATA files... with screenshots.
Do the files in the MiTACAP folder overwrite files already on the unit?
With update 2, do you have to change the files within that folder?

not that I know of, I've gone into test mode after the 2.0 update and haven't had any problems..
so i think i basically understand what to do here but 2 questions...
1) i only need to edit the file data.zip right? so i only need to copy that one over? and i should leave test mode folder on the card during all this right?
2) how do i get it to go back to being a stereo again? just take the card out?
