Posted Sep 25, 2008 · 16:26 UTC#4

I personally attached it to that thread. It's the 2nd post. You have to be logged in to access it.

Posted Sep 25, 2008 · 16:42 UTC#5

found the download but when i downloaded the file it was called download.php not testmode.zip? can't do anything with it.

Posted Sep 25, 2008 · 16:47 UTC#6

I just downloaded it again without problem

Can somebody else try downloading it to see if its the zip or just his computer??

Posted Sep 25, 2008 · 17:20 UTC#7

Everyone started from the beginning. Just don't do something you don't feel comfortable doing. Feel free to PM if you have trouble.

I downloaded the windows CE 5 emulator and the emulator images from microsoft .

I attached the directory with the f700BT flash content and it runs

It's slow but now I can change the text/images and so on and not have to go in the car and boot and transfer and wait and stuff :)

- download the mobile devices emulator

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

- download the wm6 emulator images (couldn't find the wm5's ) (search on the microsoft site)

- put your emulated PDA in 800x480

I had to do this by using :

"C:\program files\Microsoft Device Emulator\1.0\DeviceEmulator.exe" "C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\PocketPC\DeviceEmulation\0409\PPC_USA.bin" /memsize 256 /s "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP Emulator Images\pocketpc.dess" /tooltips ON /video 800x480x16 /vmname "Pioneer Emulator"

- In the emulator window : File -> configure and attach the flash directory . (The directory where you put the files you copied from the F700BT )

- now you have the F700BT on the emulated PDA's storage card

:)

It is slow , but it allows us to customize without running back-and-forth to our automobiles

Great! Should still be faster to test skin changes than having to go to the car, reboot, copy, reboot, test, see AVIC crash, go back, change, repeat :)

Posted Sep 26, 2008 · 01:41 UTC#13

Ummm, were you able to start iGO itself from the emulator yet?

Posted Sep 26, 2008 · 01:44 UTC#14

Ok what the hell I went to that link and it said I had to download some network thing. I went to download that thing nothing works. I am not this big a noob, what is wrong with my Comp?

Posted Sep 26, 2008 · 04:59 UTC#15

Its not your Computer Or you. The second file on the link efp.exe you don't need I believe that not for what we wanna do, I believe that give the Emulated windows ur running network access.

But I am also lost after that Please go into a little more detail with the hole

"C:\program files\Microsoft Device Emulator\1.0\DeviceEmulator.exe" "C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\PocketPC\DeviceEmulation\0409\PPC_USA.bin" /memsize 256 /s "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP Emulator Images\pocketpc.dess" /tooltips ON /video 800x480x16 /vmname "Pioneer Emulator"

I dont understand any of that

Posted Sep 26, 2008 · 05:10 UTC#16

yeah i tried downloading that and running it, and i cant get it to work. sorry, i always try to research as much as possible before i ask for help.

i even downloaded a windows ce emulator, but it wont load the avic files.

Posted Sep 26, 2008 · 05:55 UTC#17

I think you have to type that all in to the c:\ prompted.

Man that takes me way back I remember when everything had to be installed in ms dos. I was pretty good at some of that. But again that has been long ago and i am a little rusty

Ok, so I think I figured out what paradroid meant in his post.

Step by step:

1. Download and install these:

Mobile Emulator ----->http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=46&p=2&SrcDisplayLang=en&SrcCategoryId=&SrcFamilyId=c62d54a5-183a-4a1e-a7e2-cc500ed1f19a&u=http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2fc%2fb%2fb%2fcbb8bc58-07b9-46bb-86ba-d12bb0d9b1d9%2fV1Emulator.zip&oRef=http%3a%2f%2fwww.christec.co.nz%2fblog%2farchives%2fcategory%2fdebugging

2. Create a new text document and call it "Launch Pioneer VM in 800x480.bat". Make sure you have show file extensions enabled in Windows.

3. Paste the information below into the batch file and save it.

"C:\program files\Microsoft Device Emulator\1.0\DeviceEmulator.exe" "C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\PocketPC\DeviceEmulationV610\0409\PPC_USA.bin" /memsize 256 /s "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP Emulator Images\pocketpc.dess" /tooltips ON /video 800x480x16 /vmname "Pioneer Emulator"

4. Run the file "Launch Pioneer VM in 800x480.bat"

5. It will take the VM a minute to boot. While it's booting...

6. Click File

7. Click Configure

8. In the "Shared Folder" box, browse to where you have your copy of "My Flash Disk" stored and select it.

9. Click OK

10. Click OK

11. By now, Windows Mobile should be fully booted.

12. Click the Start button in the top left corner

13. Click Programs

14. Click "File Explorer"

15. In the top left corner click the drop down arrow (in my case, it says my documents beside the arrow).

16. Select "Storage Card"

17. Double Click APL folder

18. Double Click Main Menu or Navi or Tel.

Let me know if you don't understand any part and I'll try to walk you through it.

I'm going to bed now... See you folks in the morning.

Uhh... If you cant download a file, you're in the wrong forum. :D

But seriously, has anyone had a chance to fire up this VM on their machine?

While I can get the main menu and phone menu to work, I can never get past the Navi warning message.

Posted Sep 26, 2008 · 15:54 UTC#21

I can download all the files dude. It's the instructions after the files that I cant comprehend. You think I'd be hacking my unit if I couldn't download a file?

Posted Sep 26, 2008 · 16:57 UTC#22

CatchMe what specific part didn't you understand?

Posted Sep 26, 2008 · 17:06 UTC#23

I have no idea what step 2 means. I checked in my program files and didn't see anything with windows mobile 6, so when I went to download it, It said I needed all these prerequisites but I downloaded everything that i was told to. I just dont understand computer language in general. Like in the scripts and such I have no idea what any of that says, so I'm sorry for being a pita, but I just dont understand what's going on. Once I do it the first time I can do it every other time however. Like the onl way I'd understand is with the most detailed and basic instruction for computer noobs. You don't have to write them out however, I' simply interested in changing the theme which I have done before, I just figured this was an easier way to go about doing it.

Hacking 101:

A .bat file is a type of old school .exe.

All they do is run or change things in windows one you program them.

the Code we see in the forum is going to call a file and I guess change it.

This is also Old school hacking because you can put them on peoples desk tops and change the icon and then it will shut the pc off embed itself in the start up and the Shit out of luck.

Now all you got to to is make a new .txt file name it what ever ok.

then put the lil bit of code in there

click file save as change the .txt drop down to all files and save it as w/e he said.

Or i will upload mine

Step two done:
