Ok guys, I am getting the logos made for the new XM Sirius merger chan titles...

For example.. Flight 26 is now "The Pulse"

as some of you have seen, our icons wont show up.

You have two options. Both involve you burning DL DVD's.

To start, RIP a image of your main (or both) Nav discs onto your computer.

Option 1) I can send you an updated IMAGETBL.DAT that you replace the current one on the Nav disc DVD's. This will show the old logo. if there is one... there are no logos for howard stern yet.

For example, even though the station is now "The Pulse" it will show a Flight 26 logo... This is nice if you like the old logo's. Personally, I dont like the new 'RawDog' comedy logo... XM Comedy is much better..

This option will require some more time on my end, I need to finish working on this file...

Option 2) (Requires option 1)

Go to each XM Channel site and download the JPG file

(SEE LINK AT BOTTOM) Just change where it says 49 to what ever channel number you want

Save the JPG, open it in photoshop, Everywhere its white, change it to RGB value of 206, 198, 206. And fill in. The AVIC D3 will change anything WHITE to BLACK. This grey is the same color grey the AVIC uses, so it will blend in... once again, if you leave it white, it will invert the color to black.

After you convert everything to that grey, change the size of the image to

136x40

Save the image as a BMP file in 32bit mode.

Convert the BMP to PIM, and save it as DPS***.PIM (Replace *** with the 3 digit chan ID aka 049)

and place it in the XMDPS folder on the Ripped image of the DVD

if you are happy... burn the disc and give it a shot...

will you be willing to post the updated logos when you finish??

Im only updating the stations I browse too due to time issues (aka I dont have enough) that is why I posted step by step instructions..... I will how ever post my IMAGETBL.DAT

I have a AVIC D3... That is the AVIC D3 interface.

ok sounds good. thanks.

question.... so if I download all the images from XM and convert them as you described under "Option 2", can I just replace the existing images on the .iso and burn a new copy? Or does this require some sort of editing within the IMAGETBL.DAT file as well?? I see that you wrote "requires option 1" under option 2.

What I would like to do is just have all of the new logos appear on my D3. I'm not familiar with editing the IMAGETBL.DAT file.... Any advice?

Posted Nov 15, 2008 · 23:31 UTC#8

You will still need the IMAGETBL.DAT

That is why I am gonna try and finish it up.... It takes a bit of running out to my truck...

But replace the imagetbl file.. and burn the ISO and your good..

Posted Nov 16, 2008 · 01:14 UTC#9

what program are you suing to edit the iso?

I can perhaps make all the icons if that is what takes the most time.

Posted Nov 16, 2008 · 02:51 UTC#10

Get a Mac... No program required... Just extract the ISO... for windows use like PowerISO or UltraISO

Posted Nov 16, 2008 · 03:44 UTC#11

ok... one last thing.... ive made several of the new logos... any ideas for converting BMP to PIM on windows??? Also, if i get this working i will post the logos i have recreated. hopefully this works...

I guess this is not something you think we can ask of either XM or Pioneer to update for us? :?

Posted Nov 16, 2008 · 05:08 UTC#15

What does the IMAGETBL.DAT file do?

Posted Nov 16, 2008 · 05:21 UTC#16

I already tried to. This is what I wrote on some on the other posts regarding update the XM station logos:

I just got off the phone with Pioneer and they said that the station logos are updated through the Map Update discs. The next map update won't arrive until April '09! Lazy *** Pioneer :x . Take several hours to fix this and make your customers happy.

I'd be willing to pay someone on here, that has the skills to fix the station logos, $20 for their service

Well, I say that everyone should either:

1) Call them at 800.421.1404 (opt 2, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1) and let your voice be heard, or

2) email the message below to Pioneer at [email protected]

** Please forward this to the head (Manager) of Customer Service **

As you may or may not know, yesterday XM and Sirius completed their merger and changed the station lineup for their service. As a result, most all of the station logos displayed on your navigation units are missing. So, last night I emailed your department to ask about a fix.

Well, I just got off the phone with your customer service department and was told that the XM/Sirius station logos on all Pioneer units will be updated with the next Map Update due out in April. You are doing a disservice to your image when you're going to make ALL your customers that own a navigation display (Z-series, D-series, N-series & F-series) wait 6+ months to have their displays corrected.

Normally I could understand the wait...if XM or Sirius makes a slight changes to their station lineup. BUT, they just merged and more than 2/3 of the stations (and logos) have changed.

I'm not the only one venting my frustration. A browse at the AVIC411.com forums will show other customers that would like this resolved:

http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19359

http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19365

Please don't make your loyal customers wait 6+ months and spend $120 to fix their displays.

looking at the lineup changes, for the sites that just changed channel number but still have the same program, wouldnt it work to just rename that file?

for example. channel 103 is now 157, so would it work to just rename that file? assuming the appropriate change was made in the .dat file.

incidently, I will get a mac but it will have to wait a while. I am saving up for the 24 inch iMac

where can i get this IMAGETBL.DAT program from and wherecan i get the new xm logos from also??

Posted Nov 16, 2008 · 05:53 UTC#21

27 is now 76

28 is now 75

52 is now 87

78 is now 28

94 is now 85

95 is now 86

96 is now 88

97 is now 89

113 is now 77

110 is now 78

112 is now 79

103 is now 157

128 is now 136

157 is now 160

244 is now 96

245 is now 125

105 is now 124

104 is now 128

246 is now 97

243 is now 95

I think for most of these we can get away with just renaming the files as well as making the appropriate changes in the .Dat file.

I counted at least 38 new icons total. there were 14 or 15 I was able to rename so that leaves 20-25 new icons that need to be created.

I have most of them in jpg format, I will post shortly.

ok can u please tell me every program i need to get and what i need to do to get these new icons on my d 3

im ready to get to work :)

Posted Nov 16, 2008 · 06:34 UTC#23

The first post in this thread explains the process needed to make the changes.

you will need something that can exctract/create iso images

pim editor

jpg editior (photoshop)

and a burning program capable of burning an iso image to disc, (dual layer dvd)

also a hex editor, this is beyond me.

There is another thread somewhere in this forum where they discuss changing the icons, however I do not think anyone has attempted to change this many icons at one time.

dual layer dvd's are expensive. so I recommend we be patient until the guy who started this thread manages to get it down, he seems to know what he is doing.

Hopefully my theory about just renaming the icons that have changed channel numbers is valid, that will save some time.

how do i get the disk image to my computer? (ripping)

Posted Nov 16, 2008 · 06:44 UTC#25

that is what an iso editor will do. again, I am recommending you just wait a little for us to work it out. or read up on the subject a little.
