Anyone got the bluetooth button to work yet? I have an "ANSWER CALL" and "END CALL" button on my Infiniti that I'd like to use....

i can confirm that the answer call and end call functions work. however, i only have 5 buttons on my steering wheel (volume up/down, channel up/down, and source) so i have opted not to use those. i tried programming some functions to my cruise control buttons ont he other side of the wheel but those did not work since they are not wired to the radio. i would assume that your answer call and end call buttons will work but i cannot say for sure.

Do the steering wheel buttons work as intended with this new unit (for XM)? With the older unit, when you hit the next station button on the steering wheel, the F90 would change to the next station, not the next preset station.

unfortunately the new SWI-PS still does not control the preset up and down functions. apparently this is because of the way pioneer wired the F series and not because of the SWI-PS.

So is it worth to upgrade from the old version to the new one if your steering wheel does not have bluetooth bottons?

Posted Mar 31, 2009 · 16:32 UTC#55

does the preset up/down go from track to track on the iPod and from station preset to preset on the radios?

Is there a voice command option for programming a button? I have a voice command button on my steering wheel (03 Cadillac DHS).

I am looking to add the new unit to my F90BT, but have a question about the harness. Will I be able to use the old harness that i currently have with old PAC SWI-PS or am i going to have to use the new harness and do some rewiring? I am hoping I can just unplug the old one and plug in the new one, but I can't find instructions anywhere for the new unit. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone answered this? I'm intrigued with upgrading to this, but I don't feel like building a new wiring harness. (Plus I got to see if I have a button I don't tend to use on my steering wheel I can use for BT)

Ok, this thread seems to get confusing as to what buttons work with this unit and what buttons people are trying to use with it lol. My question is - does the following buttons on the F900BT work with the SWI-PS :

1. Volume UP & DOWN

2. Seek/Track FORWARD & BACKWARD

3. Voice Command (when you press the rotary volume IN to activate voice recognition)

Simple as that lol - can someone confirm with me? Thanks.

1 - YES

2 - YES

3 - NO

and to confirm other questions:

NO, the new SWI-PS still will not give you the option to do PRESET UP/DOWN on the F series navigation. it says it does but it does not work. i have tested and confirmed that it does not work.

YES, the new SWI-PS works to ANSWER and END calls via bluetooth (i have tested this and confirmed it)

NO, it is not worth getting the new SWI-PS if you do not plan on using it to ANSWER and END bluetooth calls as this is the only difference in functioinality, thus if you do not use these features it will be exactly the same as the old SWI-PS

I disagree, the new SWI-PS also has no button lag compared to the old one. I just made the swap last weekend.. I can confirm that the same harness is used. Unplugged the old unit, plugged in the new one and reprogrammed. The buttons are actually responsive now.. very similar to how it used to work with my OEM stereo. That alone was worth the upgrade IMO.

I just installed this new bluetooth PAC in my 06 Infiniti G35 ...

Programming ---LOL, once you figure out how to program it, it becomes remarkably easy to do so...

So, i have two bluetooth buttons on my steering wheel (BTW, the volume up/down and seek up/down work perfectly with the PAC, but there is SOME lag... just a little)....

The buttons are:

PICKUP and MODE

the pickup button doesn't register with the pac

so I used the MODE button to ANSWER calls .. I have to tap the screen to hangup. I also tried using MODE in an experiment to see what "PHONE STATUS" did, and it didn't do anything --

My installer fu_ked up my pac swi-ps install! Only the volume works. They said that the swi-ps doesnt support the f90bt. Which is BS.! Pro's my as5.! What do you guys think the problem is? I think they didnt use the resistor's provided. Im going to check when i take apart my dash in couple of days. Where should the resistors be at? Can somebody tell me how to install resistors and where? (05 infiniti g35x)

I just installed this unit with my F90BT in my '06 G35 today.

I would assume that the installer installed it correctly, but programmed the seek to preset up/down. The Pioneer unit does not support the present up/down commands. You have to reprogram it to seek up/down.

I'd suggest taking it back to the installer to reprogram it properly, but you can do it yourself in less than 10min if you want:

If you're lucky, the installer put the PAC under the head unit, and it should be accessible by removing just the shifter knob and surrounding plate.

My system was the base system, so it has vol, seek, pwr and mode buttons. If you have other buttons, substitute one for PWR in the instructions.

If you don't have the instructions, here's the programming (assuming you can reach the program button and see the status LED, of course):

Volume Up

Turn car to acc (light will blink 3x, if it doesn't you need to reprogram to mode 3)

Press & Hold program button. When light goes on, release program button and Hold UP on volume switch.

Light will go off. Keep volume switch held up for 1sec after light goes out.

Release volume up. (Light comes back on)

Volume Down

Hold DOWN on volume switch. (light goes out, continue to hold 1sec)

Release volume switch.

Pause 1/2 second.

Mute - Skipped - But you could use PWR here and not have any buttons for bluetooth

Press program button.

Pause 1/2 second. (Light comes back on)

Seek >>

Hold seek switch UP. (light goes out, continue to hold 1sec)

Release seek (light comes back on)

Seek <<

Hold seek switch down. (light goes out, continue to hold 1sec)

Release seek (light comes back on)

Source

Press mode button. (light goes out, continue to hold 1sec)

Release mode button (light comes back on)

Preset + (NOT SUPPORTED BY PIONEER) - Skipped

Press program button.

Pause 1/2 second. (Light comes back on)

Preset - (NOT SUPPORTED BY PIONEER) - Skipped

Press program button.

Pause 1/2 second. (Light comes back on)

Band - Skipped (Source changes band and source)

Press program button.

Pause 1/2 second. (Light comes back on)

Phone Status (Not Supported by Pioneer) - Skipped

Press program button.

Pause 1/2 second. (Light comes back on)

Answer Call - I chose to use PWR here, since power on/off is not supported

Press PWR button. (light goes out, continue to hold 1sec)

Release PWR. (Light comes back on)

End Call - You could use PWR here instead of Answer

Press program button.

Light will blink several times after a few seconds.

I have the old SWI-PS, is it worth it for the upgrade to the new one? I could careless about the bluetooth controls, what I am concerned about is speed /no lag like the old one. is it any better?

Nope. not worth it if you dont care about bluetooth. everything is exactlly the same in my experience.

the resistors should only be used in a multi wire system with no differences in resistance between the wires (some harley's for ex) if the car uses one wire and each button has a different resistance then you dont use the resistors

Posted Apr 15, 2009 · 07:30 UTC#66

And the G35 needs resistors.

is it a multi wire system? just curious i have only done a couple of nissans

Posted Apr 15, 2009 · 17:54 UTC#68

Two wires from the steering wheel connector go to a resistor, and then to the white wire on the PAC. One wire from the steering wheel connector goes to the ground. The PAC gets power and ground of its own, all according to the step-by-step by PAC.

Works as well as stock, up to Pioneer's end of the deal, anyway. It'd be great to be able to preset up/down

Using the new PAC SWI-PS and a f900BT, from what I understand, it would be possible to use the answer and end call buttons in the picture below. Is it possible to use the voice command button that you also see in the picture or does the new PAC not support this?

handsfree.jpg

I'm thinking it does not support this...

would there be any way to wire this up so that you COULD make use of this voice button?

Thanks!

Posted Apr 21, 2009 · 17:00 UTC#70

no, the PAC does not support the voice command

If only we could hack the software to re-route phone status request to voice command...

lol that would be sweet. It just sucks that you can't get the voice command button to be virtually anywhere like you can with the BT buttons... you can program those to be almost any button you want on your steering wheel... but not the voice command.

Oh well... still will likely get this unit for one of our upcoming Honda vehicles. Just may skip on acquiring the parts to make the BT buttons on the steering wheel.

I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla. I'm thinking about getting the AVIC Z100BT. It would be great if all of my steering wheel buttons work. So far it looks like everyone has confirmed that the volume, track, mode, answer, and end call buttons work. The only button left is the voice recognition button.

I understand that the current revision of PAC SWI-PS is rev 1.6.7. Which includes the Bluetooth functions.

On the PAC-Audio website, I found an instruction with the following listing:

http://76.12.243.71/swixprogramming/sho ... les&ID=143

It looks like rev 1.6.8 will have Voice Recognition. Does anyone have any information about this?

Pioneer, Sony, Advent, Dual, Jensen, Visteon

Programming order for

SWI-PS N/A

1 Volume Up

2 Volume Down

3 Mute

4 Track Up/ Seek Up

5 Track Down/ Seek Down

6 Source

7 Preset Up/ Disc Up

8 Preset Down/ Disc Down

9 Band

New functions added for Pioneer

10 Phone Status, Rev. 1.6.7

11 Answer Call, Rev. 1.6.7

12 End Call, Rev. 1.6.7

13 Voice Recognition, Rev. 1.6.8

I just spoke to PAC support on this. I was told it is available now. However when ordering on line you will need to specify that you need this new version. Most dealers are going to want to sell their older stock before ordering this new version.

Thanks for the reply. You're awesome!
