F-Series 3.0 update coming? Wondering what's in it...
BTW what's the different between the 700BT and the 710BT
well, that is the 1,000,000$ question ![]()
I'll bet that new firmware with updated maps and improved features (solved some known 2.0 issues). We have not to discard some HW changes in the Windows CE module.
AVIC-F910BT/F710BT released in Europe. Also SD update for sale for old F700/F900 models with new firmware and maps :
Looks like the bluetooth module is new, but not much else.
It's interesting that the digital ports are mentioned in the spec list. It makes me wonder whether they're already active.

Anyone can comment what suggest the following picture taken from F310BT?📎 avicf310bt_screenshot_fuelman.jpg
And also this for F910BT?

The second pic there is identical to our current units. Just press the album art while playing the ipod. I am curious about that fuel mileage calculator.
the sd card wont have to be in there 24/7 right? just load it up once and thats it?
when it does hit the US, couldnt we just all share it? we all get some money together, then send it down the line

I'd be down with that......
Well I'm definitely glad I waited to purchase now. I was about to bust and just get the f90... Hopefully the f910 will fix some of the bugs of the F series that was causing some apprehension with my making the purchase. Can't wait till it comes out and I can finally get my hands on a good (hopefully) head unit. If it's getting unveiled at the road show next week, I wonder how long it will be before it comes to the stores? I also wonder what the price will be... any idea what the price was of the f90 or f900 when it first came out?

I'm glad I waited as well. I was going to order mine off of 6ave but the day I was going to they pulled the F90's
Wow this is the quietest I've seen this thread in several weeks... isn't everyone excited about a new HU from Pioneer coming soon?!!??! ![]()
sucks we would have to pay for it, but like any electronic item they all become somewhat outdated and the newer version comes out

A guy in another thread downloaded the 2.7 EU update (he's from the UK) and reports that 2.7 broke testmode - so no more access to hacks for a while if 3.0 does the same. If this is true, I'm guessing all the nice hacks will be gone after 3.0 and no way to immediately get them back!
I may be keeping 2.0 if that's true.
*2.007 - minor update
But if they broke testmode there, you know 3.0 will.
Here's to hoping it's worth it. ![]()
That's what I figure. Why on earth would they do that (break testmode) though? Don't they know that if off the shelf were the only option (without the fixes of the GENIUSES here at Avic411), many of us wouldn't have bought the F-series to begin with.
PIONEER: hackability is key to sales until you guys can do a quality job on your own. Maybe the newly announced ones don't need help, but the F-Series sure does.

Agreed. The only reason I bought the (rather) flawed F90bt was for the updates this community could provide. Even so, I'm only using it as a $600 iPod player at the moment because the GPS function drives me nuts (using my Garmin 750, instead), the Bluetooth option hangs my Blackberry Curve 8330 (Verizon) about 10-20% of the time, and the overall system response is so slow I don't want to bother moving off the iPod screen if I can help it.
Listen up, Pioneer, either completely fix your products with this next release or, at the very least, leave us the option to do it ourselves.

A possible end-run to that it is to pick and choose pieces out of the 3.0 version when it hits. I suspect the part that breaks test mode access is likely related to the OS, not the nav and other software, so it may be possible to update just the upgraded nav and audio against the current version of the OS code. There is obviously no way to tell until the someone gets access to that code.

Oh, I don't think anyone needs to worry -- it's Windows. It'll get hacked again in no time.

Good point. Maybe we can use the testmode 2.0 to dump all the 3.0 executables and data files onto a 2.0.
Here's to hoping.
The good part is, that version 3.0 will be available to test in audio shops all over the country, so it shouldn't be hard to do a side-by-side.
They really need to hurry up with 3.0, its this is the most sub par radio i have ever purchased
BTW how can we know when 3.0 is for sale. On the Pioneer EU website we can see the SD cart with some information and that's all ![]()
Since it is running a version of wince, I don't think testmode is really "broken", but modified.
My guess is that like going from xp to vista, it uses a different boottrack. So after 3.0 is out for a short time, the brilliant people here(leeder, boris, etc) will find a way to dump the new bootloader and create a new "testmode"
I bought the f900BT less then 3 months ago so I really hope that the update comes out soon to make it better. Version 2.0 was a great enhancement from what I have seen (youtube videos and tech reviews), but there is still a lot of fixes to be done. Did anyone say about the price range and if it does in fact change the maps from teleatlas? I can't wait to upgrade the programming if it is going to be the same or close to the new units programming.
