doenst sound to be a difference besides name and price.

Another thing to add to the HD Radio Preset wish for me is to have scrolling Artist/ Song info, dont like to have to hit the button.

I agree, it just doest make sense to have all that real estate and confine the song and artist information to a tiny scrolling line.

Since it seems to be a software issue with the F-Series, does anyone think it would be possible to construct some sort of hack/mod to fix the preset label issue that pioneer decided to ignore?

Well i, like the person above installed my second GEX-P10, (First one broke, and would not search find hd station), everything back together working fine. Today turn on the car, and nothing. It starts of at 00.0FM then finds the last channel i had used. Any button i hit related to the HD radio, that is just changing the display, like presets works but everything else like seek, clicking on presets, band do not work. It wont even beep. Every other part of the system works fine.

Its a disappointment, maybe thats the difference between the two models.

I've now had two of the P10's stop working like that. First one replaced under warranty and the new one only lasted about 2 weeks and started the same thing... I gave up on the pieces of crap and whenever I get a chance I'll be hooking up the avic to the antenna again

yeap in the same boat. Going to try convince the company to give me my money back, saves them shipping me new ones every two weeks, and me installing and shipping em back.

I wonder if thats the difference though.

The P10 now does not say compatible with our models. It says "Compatible with the following Pioneer headunits:

FH-P800BT, FH-P8000BT, DEH-P700BT, DEH-P7000BT"

The P20HD does not list compatible units...

wow its been a while, sorry for not getting back to you guys sooner but it looks like some of you are finally getting your hands on these units and reviewing them so that's cool, I PROMISE I will have a video up by the end of today. I need to upload to youtube. Anyways I've read all the posts and it seems like the P20 isnt any better than the P10 from what I can see but I'll let you make that judgment for yourself...will upload today

Thanks, I really appreciate that you took the time to do that.

Thanks a lot for the vid!

Saying your P20 is the same as the P10 is an insult to the P20.

The problems with the P10 seem enough for me to try the P20 over the P10.

thanks for the video, saved me $$.

haha well I have no idea what the P10 is like so if you say its A LOT worse then I'm happy with my P20

I have the p10 currently with the avic f90bt. so is it worth my money to upgrade to the p20?

Posted Jun 04, 2009 · 02:49 UTC#39

it might not be better in terms of functionality. However if it is more durable than the P10 then yes it is much better than mine. 1 Day and a brand new unit blew up, but it had to wait until i mounted it and put my dash back together. How considerate.

Only possible difference seems to be in durability issues. Could be nothing though. I might have a knack for blowing up P20's too

This is all good info! I ordered mine from Amazon this week and it is on its way. I got the 20 just because the price difference was very little and I thought it might be a bit more refined than the first attempt from Pioneer. Who knows though?

I am hoping it is a better analog tuner than the one built into the F series. I am going to mount it as close to the antenna as I can to try to improve reception. My car has an amplified (AM only) FUBA antenna and it needs to be replaced. I listen to AM more than FM (news and sports) so that is what I am hoping to improve.

How long is the IP Bus cable that comes with the 20?

The only problem i've had with the 10 is that about 2-3 times it has just died completely. The radio switches to "Off" mode and if i switch back to HD its silence. I think the preset label issue is specific to the radio itself so hopefully the 3.0 firmware fixes that *fingers crossed*

FWIW, I've had zero problems with my 10 beyond the known issues with presets and data display... if the 20 doesn't add any features or fix any of the known issues on a F-series unit and wasn't having problems with the 10 I had, I'd keep the 10 and save the $ for gas...

I personally own AVIC-F900BT and I think the main problems with the P10 is..

1) presets do not work or show any text

2) no text showing the name of the song, artist or station

I've noted before that I've had my P10 connected to two other HUs (FH-P8000BT, DEH-P7000BT) besides the F90 and it worked perfectly - including preset info and song info. The issues aren't in the tuner - it is in the F-series.

It's not the F-series. I have XM and the F-series does these things just fine. I also have a D2. It doesn't show the info with Sirius - it did with XM. From what I understand (at least according to my installer), Sirius is the problem.

Posted Jun 09, 2009 · 22:21 UTC#45

The problem with that is that the Sirius tuner is not made by Pioneer like the XM tuner is.

Posted Jun 10, 2009 · 21:26 UTC#46

I'm not getting the connection between the satellite receivers having certain features (or not) and the HD Radio receivers not having the features we're describing with the F series.

If the P10 and the P20 works with an FH- or DEH-series, that would indicate that the F-series IS the issue.

I agree - just returned by p10 for a p20 :-)

New poster here and past lurker ;)

Anyway I just picked up the Avic - F700bt and I just ordered the P20 from Amazon....has anyone tried this since the last firmware update? I know it doesn't say anything in the update notes but maybe it is fixed for some odd reason? Are you guys with the p20 still enjoying HD Radio?

Still no fix for the blank presets? Other than that, the P10HD works fine imho.
