I would be very happy with iGo 8.3 I love the added features in 8.3 and run it on my portable GPS.

All these updates look specific to the map software, and according to the google:

279 Euros = 399.5001 U.S. dollars

They can suck my left nut if they expect $400 (more than you can get the F700 for) just for a map update.

I wouldn't be too worried about the European price. That price probably includes VAT and other additional costs that don't exist in the US. There are a lot of products sold in the US that go for much more on the other side of the pond.

I know it's off topic and may sound a bit jealous: This is the reason for the current turmoil in the world economy. Especially you guys in the US have been susidised to fuel economic growth. Fuel, cars, housing, clothing and consumer goods are either at a discount to world market prices or are financed without any security behind to back the loan. If the US consumer had to pay market prices and fund their purchases fom their savings rather than through credit cards or overvalued mortgages, economic growth would propably have been a bit slower worldwide, but a lot of the current problems would not have come up.

Sorry guys (and girls), I worked for an US Investment Bank for over a decade and know what I'm talking about. Think about it and start realizing that a lot of the american dream was based on a big bubble rather than hard work.

The reason most of us are here comes from the same attitude: Everything has to be cheaper, so companys outscource whatever they can. So did Pioneer with the programmng of the AVIC. Unfortunately a Chinese or Indian programmer who has never had a car, not to speak about a navi unit, would never be able to program a system that meets the requirements of industralized coutries in Europe and the US.

Never mind

since we are off topic, I lived in norway and worked for a norwegian bank (so I guess that means I know what I am talking about) and there are just as many greedy jealous people living there as here. your high prices are from your taxes. 24% VAT on EVERYTHING, how else would you pay for that "free" healthcare. 100% tax on cars and the gas tax, well you guys have been paying 5-6 dollars a gallon (3.74liters) for a while now, how much of that is taxed? Good luck bud, keep blaming america for all the worlds troubles, see where it gets you.

Back to the software update, given that the latest D3 discs were only 120 bucks, a downloadable firmware update cannot be more than that. Well let's hope not. All I ask is they improve the boot time, I can do the rest myself.

cheers.

Ok, WHEN can we get the thing in the US. Might have to take out a second mortgage,

but might sucker into it.

Hi

Pioneer Spain says it will be in early July, cost about 130 euro ($182).

I would imagine a Us version should be around 100 USD or so, whenever it comes out

So hang tight to your house and left nut, guys: I figure it could be worth it after all.

Cheers

I wonder if someone like me, that just bought a unit last week will get the firmware NC.

Posted Jun 04, 2009 · 11:59 UTC#32

Probably not, I am waiting for confirmation from my dealer but If I dont get it I will return the unit and get a refund and wait and buy an updated one, possibly the F910BT.

I had initialy complained to the dealer a few days after purchase that I could not se the detail in the maps due to poor contrast and viewing angle in my car (it is ok if viewed from straight on but not possible in a Golf Mk4), the maps are 2007.10 the firmware was 1.9 and the button response is poor, the dealer is waiting for a reply from Pioneer.

The new upgrade adresses these issues and I will be happy if I get it upgraded FOC, but if not it goes back to the store, the store manager is pushing Pioneer to upgrade his remaining stock.

The F900BT for me beats the Kenwoods and I don't like Garmin maps, they look like an explosion in a paint shop, but the F900BT seems to be still work in progress and as such I hope to get the latest having just purchased it.

Regards.

If your firmware version is 1.9, you really need to update your unit. If your unit is north america, you can get it here (not sure what the european link is):

Thanks for the suggestion, I had already updated to V2 from European site, my point is that i don't feel like having to buy an SD card to get the functionality that should have been there when i made the purchase, i spoke to Pioneer UK today and was informed they can not do anything about my 2007.1 maps or the poor contrast or the sluggish operation, they are happy for me to take it back for a refund and wait for the f910BT to be released which appears to have addressed the only issues I have or they will sell me the SD with new maps and firmware on which to me is not an option for a newly purchased unit.

The sales manager at my local Halfords has offered to get me an F910BT as soon as he can or will try to get me the update SD if that is available sooner. To be honest I am not impressed with Pioneer UK customer support but am happy with Halfords support, they have assured me that they will deal with it as soon as Pioneer gets stocks of either moving.

It must be possible to share this update on this forum or am i wrong

Anyone got any insider info? I know that a while back someone (in some thread) from pioneer said that it would be out in june, but does anyone have a more specific time?

I just hope that they make it so that when your watching a movie(Ipod, SD or whatever) that when you restart the unit it picks up where it left off.

i bought a unit f900bt in april, and now i read that there is an update ongoing for software and maps...

i hope that someone share it:

Pioneer said that update is not free of charge, but i think that a unit bought in april must have update free, almost for 1 year...

this is only my opinion, obviously.

Well I hate to ask this again... but are we paying for the map update that is included or are we paying for both the map and software??? I was told by jason that it was the maps that we are being charged for!! I dont know anymore... things go back and forth here all the time

You are paying for the Maps and the upgrade to IGO 8.3, but it looks like the price is the same as it used to be for Map updates. In addition there should be a free firmware update in the pipeline, fixing smaller bugs and maybe speed up boot time, but that is pure speculation at this point of time.

As IGO 8.3 is said to be much quicker/ using less rescources, you can expect to buy (hopefully) significant increase in performance. But due to my experience with Pioneer I believe it when I see it.

Same thing I have been thinking all along... I dunno why everyone gets there all grumpy when they say they have to pay!! You have to pay for maps for every nav system!

is this new software/map update released for f90bt as well??

New POI locations, most likely. New icons... who knows. You can use any branding set for iGO though and have any kind of icons...

There heven't been an update announced for US models so far.

In the past, F90 used exact same firmware upgrade as 700/900 though.

Very strange there is no link on the Pioneer US website to "CNSD-100FM Map and Operating Software Update for the AVIC-F700BT and AVIC-F900BT" as there is on the Pioneer EU website :?:

I wouldn't be too worried about the missing link, you have the roadshow next weekend and the updates are in Europe not available before beginning of July. Maybe Pioneer in the US just make one step after the other and avoid thousands of phonecalls to their hotlines for a product that is not for sale yet.

Should be there next week or so

if they really fix the 2D head up and some minor things like SD card song memory or cutting off last couple of seconds of each song then I would really not complayin at all. I can even bare to wait for load up.

The 2D head up was a big big big mistake they did. I assume only idiots can use 2D Up North, its impossilbe to navigate on the map if you are on a HWY or need to do fast decision, or I'm taht stupid that I cannot understand it :D that probably I'm but I would greatly appreciate that fix along those small 2 another concers.

Thats truth as its written. And its a big mistage of managers to do development or at least project management to those countries. They dont care about that and have no idea what is important to get. and because of that we get a 2D North UP systems :D

Its just sad that pioneer a company with so much reputation does not care about it as it did before.
