Dear Guys,

I've send an E-mail to Pioneer Benelux and they have informed me, that they expect the Europe Version end June begin July and it would cost about € 149,-.

I know I'm going to buy this upgrade for that price. I've already send in mine F900BT 3 times to pioneer and if there is hope that this unit wil work as it should work after this upgrade, I'm in.

Grtz

hi together,

i´m new in this forum. today i put in my new F900, pretty nice thing. 8)

i got a short question....until i read that the new 2.7 ver. "kills" the testmode.

is it still possible to update to ver. 2.5 without any problems even still with "testmode" ?

my unit still on ver. 1.9 actually.

thx for infos

2.005 works with testmode

I think were are being ripped of here in europe, as the word is that in the us the update costs 70 dollars, which is about 50 euro....

$70 would make it the cheapest map update any GPS unit has ever had.

I'm guessing somewhere around $200.

Some people state that it has to do with the wince update. A solution could be not updating the wince, but i give no garantee for this!

Along the same lines as you suggest I was thinking since the way to make changes to the system is to transfer files to the unit. From my understanding the way the firmware update works is by checking a list of the known files and upload the new ones in the folders. What if we just included in those folders only the files that we want to be transferred and modify the list of files to be transferred?

Thought number 2, as far I can tell windows ce is based mostly on the two files in the LT folder. If somehow we can get those two older files in the unit then maybe testmode will be back.

What do you guys think. All of these are just theoretical from my part. Can anybody with more knowledge on the subject enlighten me?

Hi folks,

I have updated to 2.7 (unfortunately) I have tried to downgrade to previous version but i can't beucase the unit ignore everything. If i use a sd card with no matter what the unit jump to the last audio source.

I have try the same sd card with the 2.7 upgrade and the result is the same ... it seems that the unit knows that the installed firmware is the 2.7 so it jumps because the sd card have the same or older fw ... sorry for the english ... i am not a native writer.

I decided to dissect the new .zip file.

It only contains a few new files:

WINCEIMG.BIN v6.1.7.0 -> v6.1.7.2 (The Windows CE ROM)

ezrider.exe v8.0.0.61795 -> v8.0.0.86638 (iGo v8.0)

Lang_Polish.zip (Polish language files)

SystemSetting.exe and Update.exe (no version info change), but those are compiled against the CE ROM and might be the reason why testmode does not work anymore.

I'll try to update the ezrider.exe later today via the testmode if it has any visible changes, which i don't expect due to the fact the release notes only say something about TMC.

Let us know what you find out, because I really need to get back into testmode to install my Cyprus maps, which pioneer does not include.

I would also like to know if it possible to downgrade

OK guys, here it is.

Download this http://rapidshare.com/files/246346538/winceimg.rar

Unzip to empty SD card.

Put card in slot. Press "MENU" "MAP" "EJECT" & reset button (left to "EJECT") , Keep them all pressed.

Release reset button, wait for beep, release "EJECT" button and the others.

You should get a blue screen. Now DO NOT press reset button as they ask.

There is combination of buttons to enter service mode. Each time you press the button or control knob(up, down, left, right) small red square appears at the bottom.

Here is sequence: up, up, down, "MENU", left, right. Then you have menu. Choose "0-upgrade wince" by pressing control knob. Next menu, choose (by means of control knob) upgrade from SD card.

Wait & when everything is finished remove card & reset unit.

This is not my invention, I just collected information from this forum. Thanks should go to man: xJ2Mx.

Enjoy unlocked unit

OF course everything you do is for your responsibility. Playing with this can brick your unit.

thx, i hope after weekend, everybody who made update 2.007 will be happy again & PIONEER will not get me to court

Posted Jun 19, 2009 · 20:06 UTC#40

So by applying this CE upgrade I will do a restore to the older 2.005 firmware or will this modify the 2.007 fw to testmode working again?

thanks

Apl version 2.007 stays, but with this procedure you can do whatever you want with your avic flash.

Great! Thx.

I have applied the EZrider hack to get it working with latest german map. I guess this won´t work after updating to 2.007.

OK once more.

After downgrading you can use testmode again and do what you could do before updating to 2.007

I got it. Thank you. Very nice work :-)

Since the 3.0 upgrade must work with both 2.007 and older versions, there has to be some variation of test mode that works on both. Once the 3.0 is available it should be possible to determine how it works...

Worked a treat on a US version with EU software updated to 2.7(no more test mode). Also reports Apl version 2.0. When I upgaded the image via the service menu I chose to update without format. The other option was to update with format. Thought that may be worth mentioning. Test mode is back. Was a little worried for a while as I was not able to run local maps.

Thanks konick. :D

Noobs question. When performed the procedure that described above i would be downgraded to 2.005 or not, sorry about the question but a noob always has a lot of questions.

Posted Jun 20, 2009 · 08:55 UTC#48

The file posted by konick takes it back to 2.0.

Yes, but only for the wince part, the rest remains 2.007, so the ezrider.exe won't run new maps i think, unless you replace it with the hacked one of ver2.005, and then tmc isn't working corectly again!

Posted Jun 20, 2009 · 10:12 UTC#50

I followed konick's instructions successfully and I am able to get back into test mode :), very happy about that. Next I tried to install my Cyprus maps by inserting Cyprus.fbl in map folder and Cyprus.pos, in POS folder, replaced the EZrider.exe and placed the license file in the appropriate folder but the map does not seem to show up on the list. Firmware still shows 2.007, eventhough I can still get in testmode. Any ideas why? Is it possible that 2.007 has something that does not allow the addition of new maps. Do I have to downgrade to something lower than that?

Thanks!!!
