ADMIN EDIT (JasonH): This update will be released some time around July. It is a firmware AND map upgrade. There will be a special introductory price of around $70. It will be available for purchase by SD Card only. It will also have a security code linked to your AVIC serial number. There will be no group buys or download links.

where's the firmware update

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 02:13 UTC#5

who gonna pay $130 for it?

Map and firmware upgrade? Hmmm, wonder why they are not listing the 'upgrades'? My maps are really up to date for my area with most of the new roads. So, I really would be paying for the upgrade firmware/software changes but I would only do it if there were some good changes.

So pioneer, lets post that list!

we'll i guess this would be a good idea, so anyone want to be part of the group buy?

who gonna pay $130 for it?

I would, it's totally worth that for both the maps and the new firmware.

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 03:10 UTC#11

I think i'm down for the group buy, but we need to be careful because rumor has it, after we install the update we are then locked out of testmode and then we won't be able to do any mods.

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 03:12 UTC#12

I would be in for group buy.

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 03:52 UTC#13

I'm up for a group buy. As far as modding it there will be away to get back into testmode soon. The fine peeps here will make sure of that i bet.

I'll have to see 3.0 in action to see if all the annoying shitty bleeps on every push of a steering wheel button are still there and un-turnoffable.

Otherwise, I'll pass. No upgrade is worth that annoyance.

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 04:07 UTC#15

I don't see a way to download it, just buy it in store, unless i am mistaken.

I'd do a group buy as well.

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 04:09 UTC#16

+1 for group buy. $ 130 too steep for just upgrade maps.

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 04:09 UTC#17

Can anyone let us know if this update resolve the playing music from SD cards issues in which it cuts out the last 2 seconds of the song. Look forward to reading people expeience with the new update. I' cant see myself spending this much for an update yet.

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 04:11 UTC#18

they should really make a free firmware upgrade for those of us that dont care about the new maps.

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 04:13 UTC#19

I'm up for a group buy! Sign me up! :D

If it comes with new maps AND iGo 8.3, it's worth $130.

If 3.0 locks out testmode and reintroduces all the annoyances of 2.0, it's not worth $10 even if it comes with 8.3 and maps.

+1 for group buy, ive got an extra SD card waiting :)

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 07:40 UTC#22

I'm soooooo loking forward for this update, as anyone else for sure :D Let there be finally track-up2d and fixed SD playback pls pls pls ..

is this a european update or US ? I think sooner or later it will be online anyway

if there is a 3.0 major update they should give it for free, they owe it to all the folks who believed that when they buy a unit from pioneer, they will get best. They owe this one to people and they should be ashamed for the bugs in their products they send on the shelfs!

i'd contribute to a group buy !

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 11:12 UTC#25

Ok. Well i just counted 10 people already that are down for the group buy! So for $13 dollars each lets do this! I really cant wait to see how this will affect our units. IDT I'm recommending you because you seem to know how to disect all code and your probably the best to tell us whats going on with this update. Are you down for collecting the money through paypal IDT?
