Hey All,

I bought my F900BT a little under two months ago for $577 from my work and a $130 to me is worth the money if it fixes all the bugs that the unit has with the ipod as well as touch screen response. I love the unit. I was using a cheap Navigon unit before this as I was in the process of buying a new truck. But even on the $99 navigon had the road signs, so I can't wait for the new update to have them back. Does anyone have any screen shots of the updated maps besides the ones of the avic-x series maps?

Good for you for getting out in time too... I had bought a Navigon 7200T ($400 unit) 2 months ago... and then Navigon FOLDED in North America. I sold that thing on Craigslist ASAP! Got back all $200 I had spent on it at least :) Using that money to buy my new F90BT :D I think it'll be worth the $130

Hmmm, I though Navigon still supports their units here and will honor FreshMaps subscriptions (I have an older one, 7000 or whatever it was), even if they won't sell new ones...

The devices themselves still work. But Navigon no longer has a customer service phone line in N/A, and they reply with prewritten scripts via email.

Also, I never got a chance to purchase the FreshMaps subscription, so my device was basically bricked. I couldn't update it with anything, and what's the point of holding onto a GPS device that cannot receive updated maps? lol... my side-job is secret shopper, so I need to go to all kinds of locations (around 40 different locations everyday via GPS), so I need the latest maps available. The maps that shipped with my device were outdated, even though they were from "Q3 08". Many of the addresses I attempted to visit "did not exist", yet they existed with my phone's VZNavigator.

All good reasons to sell the GPS before it lost any more value, I think 8)

True... I got FreshMaps in time, so it's still reasonably useful when I am travelling...

Count me in for the group buy also

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 17:51 UTC#62

If this 3.0 is good, spend some damn money and upgrade. Most of us here paid ~$600 or so for these things. Another $130 still makes this a damn, damn good price for a unit.

but not of all of us have $130 to spare, i myself don't have an extra $130 for the updated maps, that's why i'm modding my unit to get the most out of it, even if it means spending 5 hours a day figuring things out

Oh, and someone rename this thread. VERY misleading, since 3.0 obviously hasn't been released.

I'm in for a GB assuming the software isn't locked by key for a single user some how...

they better not have that shit

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 18:25 UTC#72

They said it will have a key to install, but really whats stopping us from all using the same key? Unless we have to give them our SN at the time of purchase which they then generate the key off of (and i highly doubt that), theres no reason the same key can't be used more than once. Its not like the units have internet access to "phone home" like Vista does.

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 18:26 UTC#73

I thought I read in the new release thread that the update was going to require a key to use it....

Posted Jun 17, 2009 · 18:35 UTC#74

The things that are really key for me to still work are:

1.) Removing key beeps (absolutely imperative)

2.) software bypass, for those who haven't ground their VSS wire. (i.e. the ability to get into Test Mode and change the speed setting to 128 or 160 etc..)

Without getting too mean...

But you spent ~$600 on the unit? That baffles me.

I mean, don't get me wrong.. if it comes out on BitTorrent, of course I'll download it. But $130 is not asking a lot at all considering it's a multi-year investment.
