Unless I'm missing something, I didn't see any references to MSN Direct in the video. Does this retain that functionality? I don't think Europe has the service.

No you do not do half of what you just said if you just want to update to 3.0

Oh... Duh. F700 doesn't have MSN Direct.

One can only assume the f700 lacks the actual hardware. After all msn needs special hardware in order to receive the information over fm. In order to get it on the new z, you actuall have to buy a msn direct reciver. Thats my take on it anyway.

Finally everything is done, full 3.0 with 8.3 igo, msn direct has the new features.

Things that are not present in this software: Ipod does not stay the default after a reset. It does Have the car heading north always option, has new sounds, much zippier and smooth all around. Also has maps dated may 2009.

So I am pretty happy. That whole process was insanely easy. Its so easy you sit there wondering if this is really going to work. KInda funny.

Anyway im all set, thanks guys for sharing, helping everyone out its a lot of fun.

One thing I will say is that some people are never going to be happy. They want that same thrill as watching a 60 screen plasma with a 10 thousand dollar theatre system for the first time. Buts in the end its just a all in one car stereo. I think pioneer will continue to improve now that they have in house programmers building on this. I think that x series update coming out so soon is a good indication of that. So hopefully we will get an update like this quarterly with all the remaining bugs being fixed eventually. Well we can hope right.

I installed today and it works great.

I drove 100miles to find out any problem.

So far, I found 2 problems,

1- SD Mp3 keep freezing randomly (remove and reinsert sd works).

2- On the MAP there is no street name display over map in 3D mode.

Otherwise, works flawless.

I have the 3.01 schemes but I still dont have street names on 3d. Any one else still having this problem even after the 3.01 update?

I noticed the street names dont come up if you are at too high of an elevation, i zoom in one or two times and it appears. Otherwise they are not there just the lines for roads.

F90BT going strong and faster than ever! Thanks soo much for these instructions. One thing I noticed when updating my WinCE files - when entering the service mode, on the blue screen it said "press the reset button" Don't, just do the password at this point and it will get you into the service mode. Thanks again!

I had some what of a break through, the schemes that Boris posted in this thread http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18175 work with the 3.01 updates as well. Ive only tried a few so far but I have got them to work and now the street names appear in 3d.

Tried update from SD 2 times - failed at Map update - red error screen.

From Testmode 2.3-

Finally just copied/replaced all files from that LPU main folder APL, APL2, etc

rebooted and reset - worked like a charm.

I followed pioneers instruction and works fine.

They must to do something wrong.

Use tilt little bit till it shows street name.
