turned off car - put in sd card #2 (again) and turned on car

f700 installed card #2 again (took 10 minutes) as if it was an upgrade from 2.0 with no password needed and now all works perfectly.

min has shipped! I live in los angeles so hopefully I should be getting it very soon. No tracking number though (I payed for the cheapest shipping maybe thats why) Too bad my car is in the shop for a few more days...

Just finished installing the 1st SD. Looks like the 1st SD only upgrade the system from 2.06 to 2.10. Let's see what it say after the 2nd SD.

2nd SD upgraded the system to 3.0201. Also installed new map data and upgraded MSN Direct firmware.

When it is not playing iPod, it is a lot faster than the 2.006. When playing iPod, it is still faster but not by much.

Response times are much better.

can you please tell us what maps you have? 2008.10 or newer?

Mine was sitting at my side door all day I could've had this installed hours ago.

I'll wait until tomorrow to do the install.

But yeah, it says you have to go to pioneer to get a password to install.

We'll see.

And yes. The Box. Is. HUGE. and has only a CD jewel case with spongy foam holding the two SD cards and a tiny install booklet inside. They should have first-class mailed them all for like $0.52.

Same here. I ordered it on 7/9 and it shipped 8/11. Still no tracking info yet. I'm assuming I'll have it here in NJ by Friday.

quick question, why are you all ordering for upgrade to v3.0 VS downloading files and upgrading??

isnt it faster to download and upgrade, not to mention the cost.

Because 3.0 is not available thru official channels, that I can see. Maybe I missed an announcement.

I will be purchasing the update on payday but I have multiple units to upgrade... and now I have to figure out which one I want to upgrade cause $70 per unit kinda sukx... So I will have a legit copy but I want to be able to put it on multiple units of mine if possible!

I paid over $900 including installation for my f90bt 6 months ago. I'm sure Pioneer paid less than $50 to have the unit made in china. Come on, they got a new firmware and the only way to get it is to order it for $80. The reason why they bundle the firmware with the maps was to FORCE people to fork over more money. I hope someone will find a crack to this soon enough and we will get the free firmware that we should be getting in the first place.

They do have free firmware-only updates...

point me to the free official 3.0 firmware update on pioneer website for the avic f90bt. Last I checked the free firmware they offer is the 2.06 firmware.
