Excellent. Go into that backup into the APL2/iGo directory and open the original sys.txt file. Look at the following line in that file:

[device]
type="PIONEERXXXX"

(yours will not be XXXX but a specific number)

Copy it to your clipboard on your computer (ctrl+c or edit>copy). Open the new sys.txt file that came with my mods and replace the line in that sys.txt file with the clipboard contents (highlight the txt to be removed and click ctrl+v or edit>paste) to make it the same thing.

Take the file and put it to your SD card and go into testmode and copy it over to the AVIC.

Should fix it.

Ever since I went to 3.0 and Keeper's 9-24-09 my unit reboots every 60 sec for about 5 reboots. It will finally stick and work ok. If I start it using the Eject,Menu and reset it will work every time!! What is the difference in the normal reboot and the reset,eject and menu boot.

Ok. I think I screw up my unit. I am not panic or anything just frustrated. I just reflash mine back again with Official 3.0 update from Pioneer and my unit is now rebooting every other min or so. I didn't put any mods at all and still rebooting by itself. Please let me know if there's anything I can do.

Try downgrading to 2.0 and flashing to 3.0. There is a thread in the general forum on it. Just do a search. It will be fine.

I am getting the reboot problems again. it seems the rebooting is associated with activating spoken warning. rebooting disappeared when i disabled spoken warning and then it started rebooting again when i enabled it!

I have same rebooting problem but mine was randomly. I experienced freeze if song name is more than 40 character or foregin character. I will try without SD Memory today see if there is any rebooting problem.

I will post it later for result.

This happened to me when I commented out a few things in the navigatemap_800_480.ui file and forgot to comment out one line in the code. Have you made any modifications yourself?

MIne rebooted today, iPod was not connected, I was listening to the HD receiver in analog mode. Maybe 2min after boot up, it rebooted. No recent button presses. It was probably recalculating a route at the time, and I ahve Samantha as the active voice now.

Hey Guys-

I was working on some changes but what I might do is just take the existing set of mods and make it so that there will be no reboots. Its caused by the audio files for the spoken warning. IDT found that there must be some corruption in the files themselves. I will get a new one up in a few minutes.

I think now that the quick menu is an over lay there is nothing to stop you from adding it to other menu's such as the speedo. I was thinking of adding a button like this to the bottom of the speedo screen.

Yeah that is a good point that it can be launched from anywhere. I guess the other theory is that you could just hit back and launch it from the main screen but convenience is always a key.

I have had strange reports of the menu not going away when the new menu layer is up and someone hits the hard map button. Then nothing can be gotten to. Even if you hit the hard menu button and then the map button the menu comes back up. Odd. I have yet to try this myself but was thinking that a timeout value to hide might help it.

I have not made any modifications at all besides the few you have instructed me to do so.. and I followed the instructions step by step.. so according to what you said, am i supposed to find that file and add something? Im not that great with html/java/linux but can follow specific directions.. thanks for the help youve given me this far though.. i just want to have these mods because they make the device so much better.. the f500 doesnt come with anything.. even my portable garmin device tells me my current speed..

All I can think is that there might have been some corruption when you downloaded. I have only seen that error when making changes to the data.zip's ui files. Leave out a syntax comma(or other misc bad formatting), add a ui to a state when it doesn't exist, etc. Its a vague error but always revolves around a coding issue.

Maybe someone else that has a BT500 can comment on here to verify that my mods work on that unit?

Go to the quickmenu then to the POI icon and its the last option. I think that is what you are looking for.

I have a new set of mods coming in the next day or so. Just finishing up some testing. I am at about 98% complete. Just a couple of images to edit. Getting in the larger speed limit, your speed and elevation signs that everyone has been asking for. Pretty much a re-rewrite from the ground up so lets see if it solves your problems.
