Thanks ovallball, nice to hear from you too. How is your f500bt? Mine crapped out; the digitizer broke and would not accept touch screen commands. Too bad, at least I got several years heavy use out of it before it bit the dust.

Both running ok at present.500 just running on Mr Blues mod and all is well.Still struggling with Primo on my 900 though.It will run ok then just freeze.Now running primo on Wayteq unit which has 128 M memory and running ok after 2 weeks testing.Would love to run Primo trouble free on my 900 but my patience just ran out!

Hi,

ryar - nice work :)

I'd like to add a few words about internet.

I've got three usb modems:

Huawei E3131 - it's completly useless. Probably it's too new. There isn't possible to switch it to Diag mode. After plug in it happens nothing.

ZTE MF100 - LED goes red then green. It should be present at COM3 but it isn't. I've read a few posts on Russian forum. Some people had the same problem. I tried different registry setting - still nothing. After a few days I gave up.

Huawei E160 - it works (almost) out of the box. I've plugged it in, created connection and it works. Of course I had changed mode to DIAG using PortSwitchTool.

I hope every Huawei modem from SwitchPort.ini (setting file of PortSwichTool) should work because it is possible switch it to DIAG mode.

Hello,run this Mod only with IGO 8...? i dont want use go-Primo.....

Posted Sep 08, 2012 · 14:40 UTC#479

Hi ,i read a lot on this forum ,but i didn't instal the mod yet. Maybe i over looked it , but is it possible to put the the maps,buildings etc. everything from the map content on an sd card. I'm a truck driver and it would be nice if i could put al the country's of europe on it. And wich sys.txt do i need to change and how? Because i saw there where 4 sys.txt files, in apl2 ,igo, primo and primo3.

This is what is under folder now in my sys.txt of primo3.

[folders]

has_secondary_root=0

sdcardpath="\my flash disk\APL2\"

;app="..\..\Primo"

maps="..\..\IGO\content\map"

buildings="..\..\IGO\content\building"

dem="..\..\IGO\content\dem"

poi="..\..\IGO\content\poi"

;voice="..\..\primo\content\Voice"

;data="\My Flash Disk\User\UserData\primo"

;tts_nua_v5="..\..\primo\tts_nua_v5"

Thanks in advance.

HI Lala1,

When you launch primo it will 1st check if there is primo and its contents on the SD card, then USB and finally on the units memory (my flash disk) if the previous are not present. If you place the primo3 folder on the root of the SD card it will launch primo from that location. Simply copy ift from my flash disk/apl2/primo3 to the root of the SD card and edit the sys.txt. As for the sys.txt, each program (primo, primo3, igo) will read the sys.txt which is in the same folder. This would mean you would edit the sys.txt in the primo3 folder (assuming it is the Primo you would like to use) on the sd card. In order for primo to use maps locally (in its own content folder) you can comment out or delete the [folders] and its commands in the sys.txt.

Note the primo3 is the newest release of Primo (Primo 2.0). There is no sound in this release except when listeneing to music via SD.

In the Primo folder you will find an older version of Primo (Primo 1.0) and it is the only working release which will give you nav audio regarless of AV source.

I hope this clears things up for you, if you have any issues or questions feel free to post back and I will help you as best I can.

Thanks ryar for the quick respons, but i deleted the mod, because i couldn't find a way to copy my poi files ,i created on the stock igo, on the sd to use on primo.

On the stock igo i have everything on the sd from the content folder, but i couldn't find the poi that i created with the stock igo. If there is a way to do so i will try it, otherwise it's not an option for me , because there are a lot of loading adresses on it.

Hey people.

so here is my question. i deleted the US maps off the unit. i put them on the SD card like i did with the Garmin maps

do i have to change the whole directory to SD in the SYS files or can i point somewhere that only the maps are in the SD card in the SYS files?

Posted Oct 02, 2012 · 02:48 UTC#483

In order for maps to be shared each iGo program must be in the same directory. Eg, APL2/iGo, APL2/Primo, APL2/Primo3. Your best bet is to copy Primo3 (assuming it is the one you want to use) onto the root of an SD card and put all the maps you need in it's content folder. In the sys.txt (SDcard/Primo3/sys.txt) remove or comment out all lines under [folders] except "has_secondary_root=0". That way Primo will use the maps in its own content folder rather then elsewhere. Note when Primo3 exists on the root of the SD card it will run that Primo rather then the one on My Flash Disk. The same holds true if it were put onto a USB drive.

Hey Ryar

so i gave that a try and no go. i put APL2 on the SD card (note that APL4 with garmin is on there also) with the iGo, Primo and Primo 3 folder in them with the edited SYS files (removed what was below folders).

i also tried to leave only the run folder of Primo3 on the deck and the full folder on the SD card, (like Garmin is set up) and no go with that one either.

only thing i didnt try yet is putting Primo3 and Primo on the root of the SD card. that is my next try. a lot of back and forth to the car haha.

had to redo the whole my flash disk at one point cause something screwed up and even though i only edited the APL2 folder and replaced it with original working one, it kept rebooting

Yes, you need to put Primo and Primo3 on the root of the SD card. Note you still need the My Flash Disk/APL2/Primo3/Run folder (and Primo/Run). The scripts to run Primo are inside that folder.

Hi Ryar,

Please can you tell my how to add a new programm to the main menu? I'm trying to add Navigon Mobile Navigator (7.7.x) is the latest that supports WINCE5 with 800x480. It will be great to test it on the Avic F900BT. I'm planing to remove the Garmin Navigation (Not working for me, can't find GPS) and then use Navigon.

Travolta, simply add Navigonto a folder in APL4 and point Avicnet to the exe file. Tap Avicnet, settings, settings menu (i think) and chose where you would like to add it. Then type in the path eg. My Flash Disk/APL4/Navigon/navi.exe. Choose an icon, and then save.

Garmin was included in avicnet 2.0 as was tomtom but both were removed to save space. Both are inferior to Primo 2.0 imho and having them on my unit was a novelty, therefore I took them out when I uploaded my altered avicnet 2.1.

Hey Ryar

got Primo and Primo3 to work from the SD card :). Unit seems much faster to load. but now is there a way to get the iGo maps to go on the SD card also.

yep, theyve been working for a while now. just did what Ryar said to do.

Hi there!

I need a little help :) After I installed Avic net my unit showed me the following message: After installing your unit will restart, but it is restarting every time, like i'm using avic net for the first time, any idea how to fix that? Thanks in advance!

Posted Oct 26, 2012 · 04:42 UTC#491

It is a voltage issue, check out posts 200-235 or so of this thread and you will find some information on the topic.

Posted Oct 26, 2012 · 12:04 UTC#492

Thanks a lot ! This was very useful :)

Posted Oct 29, 2012 · 13:28 UTC#493

According to my double start problem, i went to service and in fact during start power turns down from 12v to 0.3v but the bad news is there is no mechanical solution for this, it is just the way the car is made. Any idea how to fix that??? Thanks in advance :)

Posted Oct 29, 2012 · 23:50 UTC#494

Jas276 posted regarding having this issue, his solution is below. It looks like he added an aux battery and connected that to his avic. I wonder if he used a diode between his main and aux battery. There are a few other threads and posts out there regarding the issue, try searching and perhaps you can find more information.

My double start issue was caused by the voltage drop when I start my 4x4. I fixed it by running the main 12v wire (the yellow wire) from my aux battery (dual battery setup).

I went 4 wheel driving the other weekend and really liked the Oziexplorer maps, very helpful :)

The only thing I would like to change is the default igo program with the one from Diaftia's mod as it look better, but I think I read somewhere that it would be too much work to do???

Yeah but I don't have a second battery and it is unthinkable to install one. I think I'm going to sell my AVIC, cuz even withowt avic net it starts from the first song, first folder every single time and I think it is also caused by the same issue, and it is anoying :(

Posted Oct 30, 2012 · 18:45 UTC#496

Or shall I try some fix, is there any chance this is software problem?

Posted Oct 31, 2012 · 03:55 UTC#497

If your voltage is dropping to 0.3 V while starting it is unlikely a software problem. It is possible to have avicnet avoid double starting (I don't recall how offhand, sorry) however your drivers for the OBDII reader will not be loaded. If you don't use hobdrive but want Primo 2.0 you can try Chucks latest mod or Diaftia's (there are instructions on how to run Primo onhis mod in the Primo thread, and he also has a menu for runnng external programs). \

I have also found that while the unit is booting and the car is started it will require the double start. This doesn't seem to be a voltage issue, it appears the unit doesn't like being reset while booting.

Posted Oct 31, 2012 · 14:00 UTC#498

Thank you! According to the voltage dropping it never remembers which song was played last time, and this is also very bad, so in my case, if I don't solve this problem, I will try to find new owner for it. :) Thanks again for your help!

In near time, I'm visiting a good service and if they find some solution I will inform you about it.

As mentioned before, there are a few discussions in the forums about hooking up small rechargeable batteries behind a diode. I hooked one up with the help of my electrical engineer dad and it works great. That being said, if you don't have electrical wiring experience I wouldn't recommend taking on such a project yourself as car batteries can push out enough current to start fires.
