[X930BT] - Password Recovery (obsolete)
Sorry for my previous post, I went back and read more thoroughly and found the answer. it worked flawlessly and exactly like explained thank you very very muCh
that was very easy. thanks alot
Worked like a charm! I just got my oil changed and had to fix a blinker. To get to it the mechanic had to unplug the battery. Then the dreaded password came up. Like a moron I used some weird pass I've NEVER used anywhere else. WTF is wrong with me......? I got this work done as I have a HUGE drive ahead of me.... That would have SUCKED had I not had you awesome awesome people to help create the software and a forum to host it on.

Great post. Changed my battery in my truck. Totally forgot I even put a password. Now to remember what it was. Thanks
Add another to the list of people this helped out,
Battery died on truck, jump started and the radio wanted the password (partner had set it but couldn't remember what)
all I did was copy the testmode.key from the 1.3 zip file and it worked perfectly (rebooted the radio into testmode as soon as I put the card in)
30 seconds later I rebooted the radio and entered the correct password
Nice to have my radio back but also a bit worrying that it's so easy to get the password
Same thing here. It worked on my X9310BT when I had to replace the battery. I used the Condi's Hackmode v1.4 zip file.
Only problem I had was getting my computer to unzip the file. I kept getting " Internet explorer quit working - dw20 .exe"
I did some internet searching and found some different answers to remove the dw20.exe problem.
It's related to microsoft's error-reporting program. It's not necessary to have it and can be turned off.
This answer seems to be the simplest at eHow. It will turn the program off.
I could then unzip it using 7-zip.
I have one question if I do the hack will my navigation work on my unit? Please help i can't stand not having a radio.
Thank you so much worked great on my X9310BT. The only thing is the controls on my steering wheel are all messed up now, I hit the vol up button the vol goes down, I hit the vol down button it changes the radio station. Any ideas of how to fix that?
I have an avic-x930bt. This was simple and worked perfectly. Love it STRONGLY recommend !!!!!!!!!!!!'nn
Hi everyone i'm new here and i'm one of does that didn't right is password when i both my 950BH so i'm wondering if eny have tryd it on a AVIC950BH ?
Worked great thanks for the advice. People are charging $25.00 on ebay to do this.
I tried the download the instruction for the test mode I got the x930bt my battery died now I can't remember my passcode
I have a x930BT and couldn't find the password so I got myself a battery and brought it next to my computer and hooked my stereo there so I won't be making trips back and forth to my computer and car. Then downloaded the hack tools, got to the password.dat and it showed me my passcode, the problem is that it stills gives me an invalid passcode message even though I put the passcode it gave me. I even copied the dat file to my sd card and opened it on my computer.
Is it because I have it hooked up to a battery and not in the car itself?
EDIT: Nevermind got it fixed, turns out my passcode had two spaces after the code (IE 2699(two spaces here)
Hey, i did exactly what you said but once i inserted sd card to unit NOTING HAPPEND.
What the issue?
Vlad

You probably don't have the updated TESTMODE.key file that enables the copy/paste functions. Search for it in the forums of this site.
Hello,
I able to open Maintenance file BUT now I do not see "USER" option I have 950BT.
What should I do?
Thank you.
Hello,

Thank you.
Well, "USER" is not an option. It's a directory in the unit's file system. If you cannot see the directory, your unit will not work because it requires it.
I don't know if installing an update would reinstall the directory. I've never tried it or heard of someone who did.
Thank you!!!! Last week my Equinox's battery shorted out caused a huge huge huge snowball effected first triggered my passlock to shut off my fuel and a few other things. Once I sorted ALL that out.... next I found my stereo locked. Tried everything under the moon to break it. Found this forum and not even a minuet with the SD in the headunit I was able to start using my radio again. THANK YOU!!! Not everyone who is a noob is a thief. Sometimes you're just a single mom who got something really cool as a gift and have something bad happen. Thank you to the OP for posting this!!!
I did that for my x930bt and on the screen it stated that the test mode failed starting...what does that mean??????what I've I done wrong
Hello all! Long time lurker, first time poster! Hopefully this post will help some people out.
I just bought a used 930 off craigslist and low and behold there is a password..
I've been searching around for the past few hours trying to figure out away to clear/reset the password on this unit.. This is what I came up with..
1a) Send the unit off to pioneer and spend the xxx amount of money --OR--
--WARNING: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU DO!!--
1b. Go here: http://avic411.com/i...dated-13062011/
a. Grab the test mode files and load it up on the sd card and head over to the head unit..
b. Insert card and load up test mode.. Go to the file manager -> User -> system -> security -> password and do a Text dump of this file.. (thanks to user: odskaggs2 for the hint!)
c. write down the what is on the screen.. This is the password!!! =D
That's it!
(P.S. I almost did'nt post this, but I figured if someone wants my head unit, what good will it be to me if I have a password or not? It's gone either way.)
