I have the avh-x5500bhs with an iPhone 4s and am getting the crashing issue with Mike's latest beta about 20 or 30 seconds into running any unsupported app. I saw some others with this same issue. Is there any news on what is causing this with some people but not others?

I have been waiting (as has everyone ) for Mike to finish this. Now its working its great.

I have a problem tho I am due to replace my phone for iphone 5.

What do I have to do to make sure new phone will still work with appradio extensions because as soon as I replace phone it will be with latest IOS.

Please help.

First of all I apologise if I'm asking the wrong questions here, I've gone through heaps of the forum but I still can't figure things out.

I live in Australia and I've just picked up the new AVH-X8550BT head unit and I'm trying to get the closest thing to iphone 5 mirroring as I can, so getting unsupported apps running would be amazing to start off with. 

My main question is that is the Advanced App Mode that my head unit does the same as an AppRadio 2 model?

My phone is on ios 6.0 and I can see the direct download link on the front page... I don't have the means to download the file on pc, transfer to my phone and install it so is there a way to download that single file directly into cydia and install?

If so, then hopefully all of this awesome work should spill over for me as well.

Yes it's exactly the same app mode like on the appradio 2.

Just install Mikes repo from the first page (http://mikedecaro.com/repo/) in cydia. After that you can install appradioext. direct in cydia.

 but ive put the update and i have iphone 4 s with 6.1.2 and avh8500 radio

i was happy i could touch the screen with google map and then the screen when dark .....

and when i try to do anything else all the other app do the same it turn to a dark screen after 30 sec 1 min

oh and before i could just turn on foxtube and watch it without starting appradio

now i dont get anything .....

hope there a patch soon will make and excuse to donate again

Netflix works fine for me... Just as it should. I get controls, browsing, scrubber, etc. on the phone, and video only on the deck.

Awsome, Mike! A few questions: I was just in the car giving it a 10 minute trial and there was an incomming call. It never routed to the DA100 so I had to unplug and pick up the iPhone (5). Anything you know of? Maybe just a onetime bug

 

How do I get back to the Appradio menu? As you say, tapping outside the display crashes the runnning app, thats ofc one way Tapping hom ebutton on the radio gets me to the main menu, from there clicking "Appradio" throws me back into the currently running app, not the Appradio menu...?

 

Added Spotify, I tried it and it landscapes the app making it very difficult to operate since it has no native support for landscape mode, making the app all screwed up.

My question is: Will AppradioExt rotate everything, or is this because I have a Cydia tweak called "UIRotation" that I probably should remove?

 

If AppradioExt rotates everything, can a setting for choosing wich apps not to rotate be added?

I've never tried this before, just got the DA100 and iPhone 5 so I don't have any experience "from before", so this is all new to me.

I had the same issue with the radio not routing the phone call. For some reason even though the phone is paired via Bluetooth for app mode, it was not for phone calls

That video explains something to me. I didn't realize that its supposed to take you back to the menu when you touch outside the window of an App.
Mike, I think that there may only be a screen calibration issue with Appradio Extensions and the iphone 5. This would explain why I wasn't able to log an actual error (as there is none).

How difficult is it to get the calibration to work for the iPhone 5?

The attached video shows what I am experiencing:

Pull a keyboard up on your screen and press the letter Q. See what actual letter gets pressed. That Should help diagnose the calibration problem.

Video's are a big help since I don't have an iPhone 5. Is there any pattern to the messed up calibration? Does it get worse when you go further left or right? Is it the same shift everywhere you press?

Mike i have the home screen on my setup and it gets rotated to fit the whole screen of the app radio.  If i launch apps for appradio OS they crash after 30 sec. But if launch the springboard and then launch apps from there I works fine.  When I turn off the car and then turn it back on it goes directly to the springboard how I had it set up before, touch input works still (I can see it on my phone when i touch something on the appradio) but the video is not being mirrored.  Its just a pic of the springboard. (but it does have touch) Closing the springboard with the black bars and relaunching springboard works for me.  I will post a video shortly

Tried the Info.plist trick, no luck. Apps still close after 30s, but will keep open as long as I am using the screen. A few seconds after I stop, I get the black screen of death.

Also, unsupported apps that do not keep the screen on, like Google Maps, fades out after the iPhone locks. Any workaround to this, other than setting the iPhone to not lock?

That is the only workaround for now. Still working on a fix.

A few problems I'm having.

1) I'll make a phone call and the screen for the phone call with the end button and all of the other options like , Hold,mute,speaker,contacts. After I'll end the call it would be stuck on the screen call. seems like  mirroring cashed or something because I would not be able to change it unless I restart the app radio 2. 

 

2) I'm also having landscape lock issues. I would enable it on the settings and when I take my phone out of the App radio it would stay on the lock-screen and I would have to manually change it on the phone it self.

 

Also would it be possible to have the App radio on landscape view and have the phone in Portrait view  at the same time?

As I move across the screen from left to right hitting each key, it multiplies my movement and by the time I hit the letter "U" it thinks I'm off the screen to the right and reloads everything as in the video.

So what I'm touching registers low and to the right on the phone but gets progressively worse as touches move to the right. I'll record a video of this tonight but I wish there were an App that records screen touch coordinates.

1. I don't have my phone paired with bluetooth. I'll try making a phone call and see if I can reproduce this.

Nope, the view is just mirrored. So what ever is on the phone gets displayed on the head unit.

I already set up an app that records touch coordinates and had someone test it last night. I thinks I got all of the data I need to fix the calibration.
