Hi people. I am so fed up of being stuck in ios 5.1.1 on my iPhone 4. I have an iPad on iOS 6.1 and thought I would see what would happen if I put appradio app and appex on it.

Firstly I was amazed with the new app radio app. It is so much smoother and responsive than the old version I'm using on my iPhone running 5.1.1. The only downside was the screen didn't resize the apps properly using the iPad. Is there any way to use the iPad with appex and have it display properly ?

What do you mean by "didn't resize the apps properly"? What do you see on the head unit?

Well for example on trapster. It shows just a corner of the screen as if the screen is expecting the size of the iPad screen

Mike,

Have you ever considered doing an ARLiberator equivalent for iPhone, seems to me like you have all the pieces of the puzzle to put it together. Thats an app that i would definitely want to buy.

By ARLiberator equivalent for iPhone, I mean a set of drivers that do video/audio out and gathers the screen and button inputs from the AppRadio. Something totally independent of the clumpsy PioneerApp.

That would definitely rock...

Good day

I would need access to the Pioneer API. ARLiberator works by displaying the screen over HDMI and receiving touch controls via bluetooth. Everything is sent to the iPhone over the 30/Lightning connector, so reverse engineering it would be a bit more difficult.

I'll start working on this once the Pioneer API for iOS gets leaked. Until then, we are stuck hijacking an existing application.

Hi Mike, with what I was talking about earlier with the Ipad not resizing the screen correctly, I have taken some shots to try and explain it better. It just shows the corner of the full screen and even apps that dont rotate automatically it doesnt show the full screen either

Mike,

Is there any progress on the problem of the AppRadio going blank after a short time when running non-standard applications such as Navigon using an iPhone 4 and in my case an iPod 4th Generation. I have the latest software iOS 6.1.2 AppRadio 2.2.0 the app is running on the phone or ipod but the head unit is blank.

really enjoying the software wohoo. i don't even consider it a donation anymore. it totally payed off. keep up the good work : )

Am I supposed to have touch capability after exiting the appraio app. Kinda like arliberator.

Posted May 03, 2013 · 23:43 UTC#1312

No. Touch requires the AR app to be running.

No. Touch requires the AR app to be running.

That's what I'm talking about. Good chance it's nothing just curious. It stays running til I stop it, no time out.

Yep. Just posted beta 11. Looking for some feedback to see if it fixed the issue or not.

That's how it's supposed to work (auto rotate isn't functioning properly on iOS 6 yet). As long as you launch one unsupported app from the menu, you can press the home button and use any other app. Still working on it.

I did some work on backgrounding. Waiting for some feedback to see if the problem is fixed.

I just tested it and got no crashes after 30 seconds. 😃

That is great news, I will test it tomorrow...

Just tested and didn't crash after 30 secs with iPhone 5

Posted May 04, 2013 · 05:50 UTC#1320

mike is there anyway to get a clock in the car media player app?

Posted May 04, 2013 · 09:33 UTC#1321

Mike,

Just tested the new release, the crash to black screen has gone but when you start an unsupported application like Navigon the initial screen appears on both units the head and the iPod nothing more happens for around 30 seconds then both screens revert back to the springboard. I have attached a movie showing what happens.IMG_0156.MOV

Update - I have been trying various apps and sometimes the apps will load and work (even Navigon) but the lag between touching the head screen and something happening can be very long. There appears no reason why sometimes it works and other times it does not.

hello,
First of all, thank you very much for your work mike  :)
I bought AppRadio 2, I install APPEX (cydia) on my iphone 4 (5,1,1), and appradio 1,8,2
the problem is that it is too slow, very very slow (2.3 seconds behind)
what BETA APPEX uses this guy? I would like to have the same flow

thank you very much

p.s : sorry for my english, i'm french :)

Just tested (iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.3, AVH-P8480BT), and the 30s crash is in fact gone :)

However, touching the side black bars exits the app but doesn't load AppRadio back, I have to call it manually on the iPhone screen every single time.

And I'll back mams on the slowness issue, on all unsupported apps. Even Google Maps run painfully slow. Heavier apps, like TomTom or Sygic, are virtually unusable, lagging 2-5+ sec between a touch and a response, and updating the screen at 1 frame every 3 sec or even more.

Anyway, thanks for your huge efforts on trying to free us all :)

Just thought i would give a little update

Phone: iPhone 5 running 6.1.2

App Extensions: Running latest BETA version

Head unit: SPH-DA100 running latest firmware.

I have to say on the whole this works well. Its nice being able to use my iPhone music app and Sat Nav etc. The screen turning off is really annoying. So far i am really pleased with the setup. If you can make every app landscape and sort the screen switching off it will be fantastic.

Thanks for all the hard work you have done here.

Thanks for all the recent updates to the app its working perfectly on my 4S. Since I'm considering upgrading one question I have is for the iPhone 5 users; How are you connecting to the AppRadio SPH-DA01, do you use the 30pin to lightning connector or is there an iPhone 5 specific cable that goes to the head unit. Is all video and audio mirrored to the head unit? Any insight would be appreciated.
