As a follow-up my install still works fine with 8.17 installed on the head unit. I'm up to about 25 starts now with still only one failure of the bypass in this configuration.

I used the following wiring from jhanson999 and left the TR-7 set at the default (2 - Alpine) with the AppRadio 2 and it works fine, no programming needed. I've started the car up about 15 times and it did fail once, possibly due to a timing issue of when I clicked the initial OK or some other reason. I also haven't updated to the latest firmware, 8.17. I'll do that sometime this week and report back how that works out.

As a side note, I also used the iDataLink Maestro for steering wheel controls (on a 2011 Hyundai Sonata) and it worked very well and was easy to program via their web-based software while hooked up to the computer. It allows you to remap all steering wheel buttons to functions supported by your particular radio and assign secondary functions for holding a button down, which is nice since the Sonata doesn't have a mute or play/pause button on the steering wheel for some reason. It does cost about twice as much as the other two primary devices though. You could leave a USB cable connected to the device when installed and stowed out of the way for future reprogramming if desired. I decided not to do that with mine and kinda regret it now as I'd like to modify my mappings a little.

Changing out the factory radio on the 2011+ Sonata is a royal PITA. The new Scosche mounting kit fits and looks good though.

First off - thanks to all of you on this thread as I've been spent a lot of time on google before I came across it ;-)

I have an SPH-DA02 that I am planning on installing this weekend. I have a couple of questions I'm hoping you guys can help answer.

1) What specific functionality do I lose if I just wire it up to the Parking Brake Wire? I don't really plan on using YouTube, etc. while driving

2) Is the TR7 with a standard relay as described in the initial post on page 1 the route to go if I do decide to bypass?

3) Are there any advantages to using the TR7-Pro vs. the TR7? It is my understanding the TR7-Pro comes with some preset for Pioneer, will this work for the SPH-DA02?

Thanks again -

1) access to certian feature when the P brake is not set.

2) that question has been debated over the last 12 pages, read through it, and choose the method you feel comfortable with, every pro and con has been talked about.

3) the pro can be programmed via USB on a computer.

Wired it up this afternoon - works like a champ! Thanks again to everyone on this thread for sharing the info!

Can any one confirm what works with the DA02? Ive read every thing on this thread and I have not heard a confirmation of what works. It just really hard to figure out, people I have talked to online so far have told me that there is a way to bypass the original Appradio and the Appradio 2, but there is no way to bypass mine, and from what I can tell it works the same way the Appradio 2 does. But all the people that sell these different bypasses argue with me saying that the fix for the Appradio 2 will absolutley not work and I bought the fix for the Appradio 1 and of course that didnt work so I contacted the guy that I got it from and that guy told me I have an Appradio 2? any help would be great!

The label on the back of the headunit will tell you what you have. SPH DA01(Appradio 1), SPH DA02(Appradio 1.5?), and SPH DA100(Appradio 2). After reading the operating manuals and installation manuals for all 3 units, I can't see why the autobypass, especially the programmable one won't work. All 3 call for applying, releasing, and then reapplying the parking brake, and all 3 require the green wire to be hooked to the power side of the parking brake switch, which makes sure the switch works as a ground on/off for the appradio's green wire. I'm talking about U.S. models. Non U.S. models just require the green wire to be grounded.

Just curious, what fix did you purchase?

I bought one that was just a 3 wire relay so it only does one pulse, the eBay auction says it is for appradio 1, but won't work with appradio 2. I'm having to wait till I hear the relay click, which is right after I hit the allow button on my phone and then turn my ignition switch off and back on again to make it work. Thanks for any help, because I'm thinking I may just have to go hook up a switch if I can't figure this out. I just don't want to buy another fix if its just going to let me down. Here is a link to the one I bought, the seller has changed the description on it since I bought it, originally it just said it was for appradio and not appradio 2. http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=121038535164

I bought this one from ebay which stated that it was guaranteed to work on the appradio 2, but not the appradio 1. Fingers crossed, it hasn't failed me yet. I am not going to upgrade Pioneer firmware for fear this is one thing they can mess with. My setup is almost plug and play and I really don't have anything more I want out of my appradio.

I decided to try the same type thing from a different seller. That guy was telling me that there was no way it would work with my Radio, so I got in touch with another seller and he actually listened to me and thinks there is a good chance it could work. Ill let yall know.

The model I have is a SPH-DA02 vs the AppRadio 2 which most on the thread appear to be using. My previous post showing the wiring for the TR-7 and the relay is still working well for me -

Posted Dec 27, 2012 · 19:28 UTC#189

I also have an SPH-DA02 and I programmed and wired the TR7 to feature 17 but only works when I turn my ignition on/off a few times, I know it's programmed properly since I used to work with these quit a bit in the past when I was installing

Tommyb9999 did you use feature 12? 3,5,7 secs? Thanks in advance!

yesterday i installed my sph-dao2 in my 2012 jeep grand cherokee. i also purchased the TR7 and relay listed on the first page. i programmed the TR7 correctly to feature 12 since i have worked with them before and started the engine a couple of times and heard no clicking coming from the fuse. i originally hooked the red wire off of the TR7 to the yellow or constant wire on the vehicle wiring harness and the green wire off the TR7 to the red or acc wire as indicated on diagram on page 3 of the thread. then i tried red wire on TR7 to acc and green on TR7 to remote and it started to work. just wondering why it wasnt working the original way i had it set up. it puzzled me for awhile and maybe this could clear some things up for others that may have the same problem.

Thanks for all the info guys, I will let you know what happens, I should get it here in the next couple of days.

How I did mine: tr7_wiring.jpg

Then for programming:

1. Have only the red and black wires of the pac connected.

2. Turn car on or to accessory power.

3. Move the programming switch to ON.

4. Ground the brown wire 17 times.

5. Wait 3 seconds and ensure the light on the pac flashes 17 times.

6. Ground the brown wire 1 time to enter timing mode.

7. Wait 3 seconds for minutes timeout, light will flash.

8. Wait 3 seconds for tens place timeout, light will flash.

9. Ground the brown wire 3 times.

10. Wait 3 seconds and ensure pac flashes 3 times, then goes to fast flash.

11. Move programming switch to OFF.

12. Turn vehicle off.

13. Reconnect/connect the blue wire from TR7 to parking brake wire, green wire from TR7 to accessory power.

14. Profit!

Worked perfect!

I'll confirm, as others have, that mode 2 works just as well as mode 17 on v8.17 firmware.

I've had my SPH-DA100 in the car a full week now and have had zero problems with the TR7/bypass

Posted Jan 07, 2013 · 14:32 UTC#193

It worked like a charm, thank you for all of your help!

My instructions for the PAC tr-7 doesn't have a #17 mod. Is that normal or was I sold an older model?

Also says it came programmed in alpine video bypass which is mod #2...does this mean I can install as is? Seems some run mode 2.

Posted Jan 12, 2013 · 22:07 UTC#195

all of those answers were in the last 13 pages, please re-read(or actually read), and decide on what method you would like to try.

Posted Jan 12, 2013 · 22:35 UTC#196

Thanks...I hope no one else takes your advice, 15 minutes ill never get back.

It all depends on which model you have determines which feature on the TR7 needs to be programmed.

Edit: feature #17 is not listed in the programming manual but if you read throughout the thread it's discussed how to program it for feature 17, only works for AppRadio 2 which I believe is the SPH-DA100 from my understanding.

If you have the SPH-DA01 or SPH-DA02 you need to program it for feature 12 with a relay as discussed in previous posts.

^thanks for that. I have the sph-da100, and the preprogrammed alpine bypass unit install per the drawing on the previous page. The bypass works, however there is no sound for videos in my iphone photo app. I dont have any other video file to try at te moment. I believe I read someone else had this problem, but can't seem to find if there was a solution. When I just grounded the light green wire previously, I had sound, I can't imagine what this tr7 could do to kill the sound.

simple, it cant.

all it can do is make the unit think that the brake is set when its not, if your unit is showing video, it is hooked up right and is no different from just having the wire grounded, the radio cant "tell the dirrerence" from ground, the ground at the parking brake wire, or the ground from a relay or TR7.

Out of curiosity, is your phone set to vibrate? I've noticed I get no audio from YouTube when my phone is on vibrate, but if I turn the ringer back on and restart YouTube, the audio will work.

Hey.... that was it! Thanks a million

Most likely this is it
