as i was browsing through this thread, i saw that some have posted that the alpine bypass that is preprogrammed on the tr7 will work on this unit. That is if you have app2 radio.

thanks for the info, we are thinking of bringing some of these in.

yes the alpine mode does two things, it provides a positive output (for foot brake) on then off, and it provides a negative output for the hand brake on, off, and back on. so if you just hook the AR up to the hand brake wire, it will give out the "set, release, set" signal of the brake that the AR is looking for. (i haven't verified it myself, but in theory it should work fine, and others have said they have had success)

I ordered an SPH-DA01 through eBay a few days ago and I'm getting it professionally installed locally when it arrives. I want to show up with the correct parts in hand for the parking brake install so I don't look like a total idiot, but I'm getting confused reading everything. I've read through all 14 pages and here's what I want to know clarified:

1. TR7 and TR-7 are the same module, but have different features. The TR-7 is older with 16 features while the TR7 is newer and has features 17-23. (post #73)

2. I need both a TR7 module and relay for AppRadio (SPH-DA01). There is no relay needed for AppRadio2 (SPH-DA100).

3. I can use both parts that post #5 had. (I'm not sure since he linked to a TR-7 module). I won't get feature 17 (or I shouldn't need it?)

4. The timing I should tell my installer is 30-32-34 (handbrake on, off, on, I'm assuming) since AppRadio (SPH-DA01) takes that long to boot.

Thanks

-Dustin

buy a tr7, then buy a relay (dont worry about whether your getting a newer or older model as 99% of places selling them wont know the difference, and since the older one is, well older, its going to be harder and harder to find one. that was more just thrown in there because sooner or later someone with a super old module that bought it used would pop on here...)

then print out the very first post (and probably the second as well because of the small typo) and give it to the installer (if your installer sells TR7's then they should be much more familiar with them...)

then pay for the install, thats it

if they cant figure it out from there, you picked the wrong installer... never return. instead find a shop that can follow a set of directions

there is a reason why one of the moderator's of this site made this thread and choose to title it the "official bypass thread". its because the very first post has every thing you need to get it to work, and work right. if there was incorrect or incomplete information, the moderator would have edited it a long time ago.

why do not you just connect the green to black (ground)?

Posted Feb 09, 2013 · 05:10 UTC#208

why do not you just connect the green to black (ground)?

well that is simple, you either A: do not live in America (discussed earlier), B: have no idea how this unit (or any pioneer model of recent) functions (also covered earlier in this tread), or C: have not read much of any of the last 14 pages.

hell, very well could be all of these...

dont worry, i wont make you waste "15 minutes you'll never get back"

A: that just dosnt work for American units

B: AMERICAN pioneer units need to "see" ground applied, removed, then reapplied AFTER the unit boots up (most models anyway, others may need a second wire moved and grounded)

C: both of the above mentioned issues have been mentioned at least once in this thread, instead of reading the title and just responding thinking we are all just idiots that didn't try that and just like to over complicate things because we are board...

That wasn't so hard, was it?

Harder than just reading the thread like the rest of us...

well actually it took some more of my personal time away that i could be doing something that actually makes me money or helps somebody out that doesn't need to be spoon fed everything.

the point is that i shouldn't have to keep repeating myself for people who are too lazy to read through themselves.

there are a lot of knowledgeable guys on here that do a lot to contribute to make this site as informational as possible, they dont get paid for their help, they are here doing it just to help out the community. the bare minimum that could be showed to these people would be to actually read everything in the topic THEN ask questions about it. I dont know what makes people feel that they are so important that they dont need to do any of their own reading, and should just ask all the same questions over and over and over again. its one thing if you didn't understand how the answer was given and need clarification, but its completely different to ask questions that were already given the time to be addressed. if you want help, you need to at least be willing to do your part and help yourself when able to. if your not willing to do your part, then you should seek the help you need from somebody that is actually getting paid for that help, like somebody at pioneer tech support (good luck with that...)

I have a tr-7 pac pro and appradio 2. Do you think it will work? If yes how would it be wired and programmed? Thanks.

Posted Feb 18, 2013 · 03:31 UTC#214

exactly which part are you having trouble understanding and are in need of further explanation of???

Posted Feb 18, 2013 · 18:16 UTC#215

well, i ready every bit of this tread including people referring each other to some stuff :-D  i decided to order tr-7 and be safe in future for any further programming. so far i found the unit on bestbuy.com the cheapest at employee/cost price. yeah i work for bestbuy corporate and am not advertising for it. just giving hint to yall to save money. good luck

dang, 22 bucks and free shipping. that really is a hard deal to beat!

Posted Feb 22, 2013 · 10:52 UTC#218

I use it.  Works great.  It can't be programmed, so if Pioneer pulls any shenanigans and lawyers up their firmware even more, Then I will be looking at one of these TR-7s.

I just ordered one from their website at microbypass.com. They have a 2012 version and a 2013 version. I asked them about it and they said the 2012 won't work the SPH-DA100 but the 2013 version will. He also said the 2013 will work with any future firmware upgrade. Whether thats true or not is hard to say, especially since their site says the 2012 version does work with the SPH-DA100 and support says it won't. Maybe it did but a firmware broke it, who knows.

I just bought my appradio yesterday so I'm just sharing what I was told from them. I should receive it in a few weeks so I can test it.

He also said the 2013 will work with any future firmware upgrade.

unless he has a delorian, plutonium, and a long enough road to get up to 88 MPH, there is no way of possibly knowing this.

no one knows (including people that work for pioneer) what changes they will make in the future.

Agreed, I just wanted to mention about the difference with the 2012 and 2013 version in case it helped anyone.

Just because he said it will work in the future doesn't mean it will lol

That's odd, since I got mine waaaay back in 2012 and it still works just fine with my appradio 2 (sph-da100).  Now where's that flux capacitor I left hanging around.....

Running latest firmware?

I hate to be the one not reading every thread, but there's a whole lot of relay-talk here... and I don't know if it will be necessary on my unit. Just ordered a DA 100 (Pioneer got a cashback deal here in Sweden now) and have one quick question: Can someone confirm that a plain ground connection is enough to bypass a European DA 100, running latest 8.30? Is it as simple with the DA 100 as it was with my current old F900 (European also)?

Cheers!
