I'm not 100% sure as I have not received the headunit yet but I'll let you know when it comes in. I'm not at liberty to say how much I paid but I assure you that I got a good deal.

I think extended warranties are a scam and a waste of money. Here's my logic.
First your paying up front for a warranty that doesn't even go into effect for a year.
Second, 3rd party warranty companies are notorious for finding some reason why your repair isn't covered. And if you intend to do anything like messing with the hard drive, once the genius' around here get it cracked(can't wait), you can kiss your warranty goodbye if they have some way to detect that.
Third, I doubt I'll have the same unit in 6 years. By then I'll have the one thats the size of an eraser and projects a 3d image in mid air, or some shizzle like that.

I say save your money for now. If you really want an extended warranty wait until your factory warranty is aboiut to run out. The postcard offering it will most likely show up in your mailbox.

Let the bashing begin,

Ray

Ray, I totaly agree......To me it's like buying a new car and purchasing the extended warranty at the time of purchase. You can't use it for 3 yrs or 30,000 miles yet you pay for it on day one. Most people are unaware that by law you can buy the same extended warranty up until the day the original manufacturers warranty expires. If your car gets totaled before then, you just saved yourself a heap of change! If not, you can now make the decision whether to purchase or not.
What will happen in this case is, you will register your unit with Pioneer. Pioneer will then sell that information to extended warranty companies who will then solicite all of us for extended warranties. Since Pioneer does not sell an extended warranty they have nothing to loose. Pioneer agrees to do the repairs (remember, you have to pay them up front) and they let the consumer deal with getting their reimbursement back from the extended warranty company.

Not trying to discourage anyone from the warranty, but be sure you understand exactly what the process is. Warranty companies just so happen to be in business to make money too! Hmm, ever wonder who that money is coming from, NOT Pioneer.

Does anyone know if the deal at 6ave.com is still good? I called them and they told me the AVIC Z1 is now going for $1700. :(

I was going to call on Friday and ask for Roberto. We'll see tomorrow. I will not pay that much.

Won't deal with 6th ave again I don't think. And definitely won't deal with Peter Corpuz. That's the guy I spoke to last Thursday when I ordered my Z1. Made a good deal Ii think 1787.30 for the z1, the bt unit, the sirius unit, the ipod module and the wire harness adapter for my car. This guy assured me it was in stock and would ship on Friday, but he was going to "try" to get it out that day. So by Monday I had not reeceived a ship notification so I shot him an email asking if my order had shipped. No reply. emailed again Tuesday no reply. Called him, no answer, left message. Then Wednesday I call customer service to see what the deal is. The guy puts me on hold comes back in a minute and says he is transferring me to the salesman. Of course I get his VM. Called customer service today, got a woman who looks up my order and tells me it didn't ship because they were out of stock until today and it was shipping today. So I am pissed that the salesman didn't just tell me the truth and say they were out of stock. Dealing with these guys is like dealing with a used car salesman and your buying a car that they don't even show you.
End rant.

I know what you mean. I ordered my bluetooth from them over two weeks ago when the guy said he had plenty in stock but it has not shipped yet. I called a few days after placing the order and the guy said it would ship out by the end of the week. When Friday came and I didn't have a shipping confirmation, I called them up and they said it wasn't in stock and it would ship out in about a week or two. The worst part was that after I placed my order, thinking that the BT was in stock I came on here to let everyone know, and some of those people who ordered after me had their BT adapters shipped out.

I got mine in 7 days from www.digital1234.com for $1,499 SHIPPED

So I thought I'd let you know and try to save you $200 bucks!

6th ave told me they had them but it wouldnt ship for 4-5 days...liars.
Posted Jun 09, 2006 · 15:38 UTC#60
1499 is what i paid for the z1. The rest is for all the add ons I ordered.
Posted Jun 09, 2006 · 18:30 UTC#61
I ordered the AVIC-Z1, ND-BT1 (Bluetooth Wireless Adapter), CD-IB100II (iPod Interface Adapter), GEX-P920XM (XM Digital Satellite Tuner) and 6 year warranty on May 31st and everything but the iPod connector arrived this morning! I'm pumped!

6th Avenue gets a big thumbsup from me! :D

I'm waiting to hear back from Roberto, left him a message 1/2 hour ago, he was out ot lunch.

What kind of prices are we talking?

I want to get the AVIC-Z1
CD-IB100II (Ipod adapter)
ND-BT1 (Blue tooth)
and possibly the warranty.

Don't get the warranty - its a waste of money. I called 6ave again today and Roberto was gone for the afternoon. I got this really rude guy on the phone and he was no help at all. He just said they're completely out of stock - he didn't even feel like answering my questions.

A guy I talked to said that they had close to 100 on order due in next week.
Posted Jun 10, 2006 · 01:11 UTC#65
Yeah right...I wouldn't believe that for one second!

I bit the bullet and ordered from 6ave.com. I have been calling for like 2 days trying to get a hold of Roberto to no avail.

I ended up talking to Frantz and got just as good a deal. Everything is on back order before you ask. I dont care I'm not in a hurry. I am more concerned with getting a good price. I dont care about opinions on warrantys either. I'm one of those people with bad luck and almost always end up needing them.

They are offering the AVIC-Z1 INCLUDING the 5 year Extended RepairTech warranty for $1699. (thats basically the Z1 for $1499 and $200 for the warranty. The warranty is 5 years after the 1 yr from pioneer is over).

I also got the Ipod Adapter for $50 & the Bluetooth Adapter for $115.

My question to anyone who has ordered from them already and gotten the Ipod Adapter exactly which one have you gotten???

His computer says CD-IB100 and not CD-IB100II. The II being the newer version. He said that he has sold quite a few of them and not gotten any complaints. I assume that they are getting the latest one and just didn't update the info in their system. Either way I can send it back if its the old version anyway. The CD-IB100 is white and the CD-IB100II is black.

I called in to 6ave today and was told that the pricing on the AVIC Z1 will change next week as they get a new shipment in (they're out of stock now). They'll be dropping the price back to $1500, instead of the $1700 they're charging now.

In my opinion, the extended warranty is just money down the drain, especially since its offered by a 3rd-party company and not Pioneer. I've dealt with these before and most times, these companies end up charging you extra when you really do need to fix what you bought.

Like I said above the Z1 was $1499, you didnt have to get the $200 warranty. As for your opinion on the warranty I also said above I dont care to hear it.

Can anyone answer the Ipod Adapter question I asked above?
Posted Jun 11, 2006 · 10:25 UTC#69
To be honest with you, it doesn't matter which ipod adaptor you get. They are both identical except for the cable and the connector. Apple asked them to change to the new connector, but both operate exactly the same. I would just be sure you aren't paying more that $50 for either of them because Pioneer dropped retail price to that

whtcrxghst, thanks for the info. What is the difference with the connectors?
We have the video ipod.

The newer connector is supposed to be a more reliable connection. Unfortunately its a little bigger, which can make running the wire a pain, but nothing too bad

So hellmaster, is it that you don't want to hear the truth about extended warranties, or is it that you're pissed because you got ripped off by a third-party vendor?
Posted Jun 12, 2006 · 20:06 UTC#73
Guest, neither. I'm not pissed off or ripped off. You have your opinion and I have mine. I'm not pushing my opinion on anyone becuase I couldnt really care if anyone accepts or rejects it. Why do you keep pushing the issue?

Are you just a ball buster or an instigater? Either way I dont care what you think about it. Isn't America the best, we can agree to disagree. Keep posting about it if you want, it does not bother me.
