Hmm...so I guess the answer is "maybe" ![]()
AVIC-Z2 Pre/Post-June Bypass Files
I have seen quite a few too
My June unit was already updated from the factory.
I am having problems with getting the Z2 to update with the cd I made with hyperite's upload. When I download the file it automatically opens the roxio cd creator with no files. I tried burning the file to the cd with Roxio but i think this is the problem. Is the file a zip? I cant seem to open the download with the image. I have read every topic to make sure I tried everything before sounding like a loser. If some can please help let me know if i need to use a another software or something. I even tried burning the file on a CD-R and a DVD+R the dvdR says unreadable disc. I tried reseting it but it just keeps saying the same thing.
Thanks
Burn at slower speeds will also help
Yea after reading other posts, I used Alcohol120% and this seemed to work. I was burning the CD as a Data instead of an image that was the problem. I will be doing the 2-wire bypass later. Thanks guys for all your time and help.
VICTORY!!!
yup...I got my to work with out loading the disk....date on the pioneer "June".... I just did the 2 wire bypass......I gotten about 600 mile today...still work fine....Thanks for reply....
Wow, I'm so glad this is true. My Z2 was stolen 3weeks after install. My replacement arrives tomorrow, goes in Thurs.
Question:
Does this bypass remove any functions of the Z2? (i.e. the gyros or something served a function like in tunnels.)
Does not remove any functions
My z2 worked for 40 miles now it has the brake warning again, whats up with that? When cheking the settings it says that the parking brake is on.
Went on an 800 mile round trip over the weekend and all worked great!

It sounds like the other pin is not grounded. Check to make sure that the pin has not backed out of the connector.
I got the update to work, now the z2 doesnt recognize the back up camera. How can I get it to work again?
Thanks

Ive read of this before, I believe someone else had to reassign the output to the camera and then it worked again. If memory serves, the low level reset causes the z2 to no longer have the camera assigned to that output. Should be in your settings somewhere.
Pretty sure thats how it went. I think that post is somewhere in this thread too.
Check your settings to turn it on. And you might have to change from high to low on the back-up signal.I got the update to work, now the z2 doesnt recognize the back up camera. How can I get it to work again?

Correct, a reset will cause the camera to not show. You have to turn it back on in the AV settings.
Thanks to everyone who worked on the bypass, im redoing my truck right now so i cant try it yet, but I have the iso burned and ready, and the bypass wired for when the truck goes back together.
For those of You who are getting a .rar file when downloading, the reason may be due to the fact that winrar by default associates itself with .iso files, it probably is an .iso, just that it automatically opens in winrar. Try right clicking it and opening it with another program or opening winrar and changing the files it associates with (uncheck .iso i believe).
Thank you very much for posting this hack! I will install my AVIC Z2 this weekend, and I am glad I can install it with the bypass right away.
I have two questions though:
This is the bypass for the Z1, is the Z2 wired exactly the same way as the Z1 (same connections, connectors etc)? So if you apply the Z1 wiring it won't damage your Z2??
Also, the iso image that Hyperite posted (thanks!) is that copyrighted material? I don't want to get anybody in trouble by using this iso if there are any legal issues?
Thanks again to all that made this hack possible!!

Correct.

Kindof a gray area.
Yea had to go to AV settings and then system settings. Thanks, Hyperite, Brandon, and Drober. You guys are the shit!
Another happy customer

Which other pin?

You have to do the "two wire by-pass". Read the first post on this tread. Here's a link to the directions on how to do this, look at the 07/06 by-pass.

Did you load the ISO?
You have to be a heluva good guy to help out so many of us. Thanks for your work!!
I have to be missing something stupid. I burned the file Z2BypassUpdate.ISO to a CD. I put it in the deck, press the map button and nothing happens. I am expecting an update prompt. What am I doing wrong?

When you stick that cd back into a computer, look at the cd. Is it just the ISO file on the CD? You are not supposed to put the ISO file on the CD, but use the ISO file to tell the CD burning program HOW to burn the CD. If you use Nero, you can hit Burner - Burn Image, select the ISO and it will put a bunch of files on the CD and burn the CD with the instructions that are embedded in the ISO.
Clocked 750 miles since I patched my Feb07 Z2, still working like a charm! My 2 wire bypass held up the test of time ![]()
Frickin' yippie!
Is it ok to run the update without the 2 wire completed. I have the parking grounded but not the connector 2 pin yet.
Will the update work ok? I know it probably wont give me the bypass. Or should I just wait to do the 2nd wire?
