I just installed the 2 wire bypass in my new 2008 Toyota Camry XLE. Everything went fine. Software update was already installed.
Instructions for removal of Navigation Receiver in subject auto:
First, remove the Instrument Panel No 2 Register Assembly (above the Navigation Receiver). This allows you to get to the Navigation Receiver mounting cap screws at the top.
Next, I removed the No 1 & No 2 Instrument Cluster Finish Panel Garnish (This allows you to get to the Upper Console Panel Sub-assembly screws {below the Navigation Receiver}).
Next, I remove the Shift Lever Knob, and the Floor Shift Position Indicator Housing Subassembly, and the Upper Console Rear Panel Sub-assembly.
I then remove the screws holding the Upper Console Panel Sub-assembly, and the Upper Console Panel Sub-assembly.
You can now get to the Navigation Receiver mounting cap screws at the bottom.
Remove the bottom & top Navigation Receiver mounting cap screws, and then remove the Navigation Receiver.
THANKS!!
I got my z2 in the mail today and ran out for a trim kit and wiring harness. Soldered it all up, grounded the two wires for the bypass and burned the iso. Tore my dash to pieces and installed it. I took it for a spin to make sure it worked and sure enough it did!
I have accidentally honked the horn twice now since midnight while trying to reassemble my dash. Im gonna give up and hit the sack before my neighbors kill me.
Thanks to this board and especially Hyperite for a successful install/bypass!! ![]()

... the darn unit won't voice-recognize my city, which happens to be the capital of California... Maybe I need to figure a different way to pronounce it...
You need to pronounce it very correctly:
Suck - Rah - Men - tow
I thought you pronounced the capital of CA
Mex - Eee - Co - Sit - Ee ![]()
ive looked through several pages of the thread and couldnt find anything similar to what i am going to ask so....
i can either do method one which is grounding the wires or method two which is doing the update...i understand that...but with method two do i have to have the wires grounded anyways, or am i just confused? ![]()
Yes, you will have to ground both wires either way

Whatever you do, the two wires will need to be grounded.
k then ill have my installer do it
Started to look through the 35 pages of this post and gave up so I am just gunna ask.
What are ya'll using for a burning program? (I noticed it said you cant use the "built-in Windows burner".)
And the "burn as an image" could someone explain that please!
Didnt really wanna mess with my Z2 when the bypass first became available, but now that I see it's workin for everyone I'm gunna giver a try.
use NERO http://www.nero.com
and you may wan't to try this update
you dont need the bypass files there included in this 1 also
I have a z2 man. date of 06/07 , I did the two wire bypass and it unlocked all the the dvd player and all the other feachers that would normaly be locked wile driving ,
We the proceded to do the 2 wire bypass on my brothers z2 man. date of 04/07 and it worked as well .
Can you explane why we did not need to use the down load cd that is recomended ?
The way i found this out is i did the bypass, Then went to buy some cdr.s
Thought to myself wy not try it , and works great on both units !!!!
Okay, this is absolutely a beginner question, but I am actually trying to do the 2-wire bypass myself. I have done wire #2 (the picture makes it impossible to mess this up), but how do I 'ground' the light green brake sensor wire? I understand that it needs to not be connected to the cars ground wire, but how do I actually 'ground it' behind the avic? Sorry for the stupid question, but I couldn't find an answer in the rest of the thread...
take the light green wire and connect it to any ground. it tells you not to connect your ebrake wire, just the light green wire to any ground point
Is a 'ground point' any open slot in a connector? Or do I have to splice a wire?
lol ground to chassis of ur car
Yeah, I finally figured that out, lol. I had to call one of my more "auto-inclined" friends, but at least I know what the chassis is!
But I did it! And it works perfectly! Woo-hoo!
my pc laptyop is vista. and i don"t need dounload bypass file? are you sure? could you tell me how can i get nero? i have to pay for get this program? i'm new . ineed you explain me please. thanks.
does it matter if you bypass the wires first or use method 2 first? just wondering because im going to have my installer do the 2 wire bypass and i was going to update via the cd afterwards....
it does not matter
So since messing around with files on the HDD helped out the bypass, has anyone had any luck with figuring out how to get rid of the disclaimer? That would be a bonus to the bypass.
The parking break disclaimer? You just have to reset the avic - push the little recessed button to the right of the 'open' button. You won't lose anything but your radio presets.
The navi safety disclaimer? You're stuck with it. We all are.

Yeah, I was hoping someone would figure out the navigation disclaimer, but no big deal.
bypass lasts 10 minutes then back lockout again
thoughts?? maybe my iso is not burned correcctly. what should happen when disc inserted and map button pressed ? pressing reset gives me ten minutes.
also, should i do the pioneer update to resolve screen heat cutout issues ?
