Also, now the the HD is Z3 image, the "flashing" bypass no longer works, which means the adapter i purchased no longer works? The only option to have full functionality all the time is to pull out headunit and do 2wire bypass?

Yes. Here is a direct link to the bypass instructions:

Chances are that your light green wire is not connected to anything. If it was, the buttons would NOT be greyed out.

Just downloaded the z3 image last night,

The directions say you need to unzip it, it was not zipped?

Also I want to to the restore and it said "This is not the first sector of the image"

I went and looked in the files that I downloaded with a torrent and I have

z3_virgin 2 - 9

z3_virgin 12-14

Does anyone know if it is suposto be like this? Did the torrent miss up downloaded it says that I am done with it.

ok well I figured it out I did a force recheck on utorrent and it says now that I am only 78% done with it. /sigh I was looking forward to getting the z3 update installed on it. Once I get this thing downloaded I will leave it up to seed for other people, I have it on my work computer that really doesnt get used much so I should have no problem seeding for a while for you all.

Can I get some seeders please. There is only 2 seeders and they dont have the same sections that I dont have 1, 10, 11 Thank you in advance

No. Not unless you use a faster hdd, but even then it is only a minor speed difference.

edited, dumb question needed to be deleted.

You could, but garrettoomey has put together a great guide on how to retain your music if your drive was already unlocked. If you are using the stock drive and have to unlock, you will lose all data on the drive unless you use the unlocking service which, last time I checked, was about 45 bucks. If you unlock it yourself, you will lose all your data.

The guide is around here somewhere, I'm working on some stuff or else I'd go find you a link but I know it's not hard to find.

thanks, drive is already unlocked from last time.

hmmm $45 or burn 40+ cds again......

If the drive is already unlocked, then you don't have to spend anything. Just restore the LDAT and SDAT partitions from the image and you music, addressbook, etc will still be intact.

If the drive is already unlocked from last time then you're in luck. All you need to do is follow garrettoomey's guide and replace the map partitions. You can leave the partitions with all your user data (music, contacts, etc) alone. :D

I remember that when we did the Z1 to Z2/3 upgrade we had to copy or override some files under SDATA folder to bypass the unit.

Is that necessary again now with the new 2009 img ?

Thanks

Which bypass do you have? I have a Z2 upgraded w/ Garrets Z3 drive and had the two wire bypass. After the update, that bypass was still effective. I did not have to copy any individual files.

I have the 2 wires bypass and imaged the hd with the img posted on the forum at that time.

The 2009 img posted on torrent is the same with the one posted on rapidshare right?

Thx.

No, you will not need a password. Your drive is already permenantly unlocked.

I know this is kind of a silly question and I am pretty sure I know the answer already, but I would like for someone to confirm.

When restoring just the LDATA and SDATA partitions Acronis asks you which is the primary, active, or logical.

I made the LDAT the primary and the SDATA logical. I chose not to assign a drive letter as I assume the avic unit will assign it.

Thanks for your help in advance.

LDAT can be ACTIVE/PRIMARY (or just Primary works) and SDAT will be PRIMARY
