Will make a donation.....not sure if he's still taking donation

1)I am currently on 1.06/NEX4000 will I need to be on 1.08/NEX4000 to install 1.03/NEX4001?

2)If I install 1.03/NEX4001....are you saying bluetooth audio from my phone would not work?

Is there anything else that would not work?

3)would there be a method to violate the album art pixel size limit from 600 pixels?

Just donated, this is REALLY exiting news. Thought I was going to have to get a whole new headunit to be able to take advantage of Android Auto. Keep up the good work

Pretty sure the project is dead...

Posted May 24, 2015 · 03:31 UTC#254

Its not dead necessarily. We are just in need of a full sd dump

Ok update time.

So I just gathered the logs from the 8000 vs 8100 when playing bluetooth and then using CarPlay. They both have the bluetooth errors as seen above. The main difference I can see is that the 8100 has long lists of this error:

01-02 00:02:13.400  2459  2459 E SettingServer: BnSettingServer::onTransact failed when settingserver is resume. cmd 468

Looking into what this really is but hoping this one is the issue. Also tried reinitializing the bluetooth and user cache after the upgrade to the 8100, but after I got the logs.

I have an 8100 and am willing to pull any files i can for your project.  i'd just need you to tell me how

@PaisanNYC thats awesome. Unfortunately you would need to do what Bushing did on https://fail0verflow.com/blog/2014/enhancing-the-avic-5000nex.html  to get the sd card password, and unlock it before you can dump it. Another thing though that could be done to help is to try and put your decks internal sd card into an 8000 NEX and see if it works (assuming the password lock doesn't cause an issue) That would tell us if it is an update issue or something else.

I'd be more than willing to dump the SD card (and unlock it) if somebody wanted to open their 8100 and send me the card but of course that voids the warranty and somebody will be without a working stereo for a few days...

Very nice work guys. I am definitely interested in seeing where this goes. I have a nex-4000 and just ordered the zenfone 2. I saw some reports of it working with Android auto on the latest update. Definitely up for testing once I get my new phone.

Im curious as well. If we dont have a 8100 or 4100 person willing to give us a sdcard dump then what about just taking the Android Auto apk from the 8100 file and putting it into the 8000 file and trying an install?

Problem is it doesn't seem to be just an apk. It looks like it is baked into Pioneer's MediaPlayer APK and the settings etc. I believe it is defiantly doable, we just need an Android System developer which I am not. And then a script to auto-repack the PRG (doable, just haven't had as much time as I would like)

I downloaded the same app with an HTC desire 816 using mirrorlink and get full control of the phone as well with sound but have one minor glitch, I have the home button and return/back button and not the button that lets me bring up the app switcher. Also The htc has a built in "car" app that opens instead of sygic but with sygic on the phone when I close the "Car" app I get the full phone with touch on the headunit.

Sorry for being cryptic :).  I will make a new post but basically when i exit the app  sygic car nav from my S6 i get full screen mirroring with touch screen!!!! Might just be a bug on the Galaxy S6.

just curious, what does this have to do with getting 2nd generation nex files to work on the 1st generation?

It doesn't at all.

I tried using Sygic and Mirrorlink. Other than the fact that the Sygic application felt so 2000 and late, my Galaxy S6 crashed twice when I tried to use it and the application required a subscription.  So I quickly gave up on Mirrorlink being a viable option, at least until Google Maps is supported.

Edit: I'm excited to see this development.  I don't have anything to offer for the current obstacles, but I'll keep my eyes and ears open!

For those curious or with development experience, I just created a shell script that opens up the PRG file, waits for modifications and then merges it back together with the correct CRC32 checks and sizes. It is located here: https://gist.github.com/bassrock/8053d22493785b92958f

The only issue is it uses ext4fuse which is read-only, so just change that to whatever ext4 mounting program you have that allows write access and then code away.

I updated the gist to instead use http://www.paragon-software.com/home/extfs-mac/ which has write support.

Thanks for your continued work and updates on this!

So tried a modified update on my deck and confirmed this process of repacking the update does work! So that means we now have an easy way to modify the update, repackage it and install it.

Awesome! Nice job. Keep us updated

this is really cool and i hope you are able to get it all working. what are the odds that if there was a mirrorlink update to the 4100 that that could be cooked into your custom work?
