i figured it out! the backup cam for some reason had the accessory and power leads on the same one. I dont know why I did that when I installed it. but the draw dropped from .3333 amps to .0900 amps so i think we are good now

any idea which wire i could put a inline switch on but still save settings? is that possible?

I just had the battery replaced and the dealer said it was the culprit. I believe it since i had the same problem with the last car i took the deck out of.

Yeah i have a backup camera, and when i shut off the ignition the head unit does shut off. I am willing to install a switch somewhere but I dont want to be losing my settings every time I flip it on..

so this is kinda weird, i bought a new car and moved all my shit over to it, including backup cam, ipod connector, and xm with nav traffic. any ideas for what wires I should check to see what might be causing a drain? its been so long i dont remember what all the wires do now unfortunatly. I also have Garret's upgrade from a year ago on my had and i love it you should all get it.

i just fixed this on mine, its the bottom right hole in your "connector 2" plug. just pull the mute wire out of connector one and stick it in connector 2 and ground it! if you are getting that message then you arent properly grounded in 1 of 2 places. that one and your parking break wire need to be grounded. good luck!

I got a new car so i needed a new harness from crutchfield I figured i would upgrade to the Z3 image while i waited for my part to show up. I sent it to Garret, and got a call 2 days later from him saying he got it. He wanted to double check that it was ok to nuke all my exisiting data. I thought that was nice. anyways got my drive like 2 days later and just threw it all in tonight. i forgot what a bitch it is to install the z2, with ipod, xm, backup cam and bluetooth. anyways got all the kinks ironed out and Garret runs an A+ operation. again I upgraded my original 30 gig drive to the new z3

I wonder if the upgrade from disc destroys your contacts and songs already recorded. its not too hard of an upgrade and only costs 120 bucks according to pioneer. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... 800HD.Shop i personally dont really use it for the mp3 ripping since you have to burn cd's with cd text. rather than rip a mp3 disc with 300 songs on it. ive just been using my iphone lately. too bad the stupide ipod unit doesnt recharge it. talk about lame.

is this the same as just using the disc Pioneer CNDV-800HD? for a z2 to z3? has anyone seen any isos out there?

but can it record live songs off the radio like a tivo?

no i can play a copied dvd, but i want to take tv shows or porn or whatever and re rip it to dvd then play it.... any special reccomended program for that?

can someone link me to a post or tell me how to make my own dvd's that will work on the z2? i tried ripping some tv shows off my media center into dvd format but they wont play, they look like they are about to play then they dont thanks!

yes so i plugged in the cable that goes from my xm to my ipod connector to my avic z2, then i used the xm data cable to the z2.... is there any special setup i need to run thru to get the traffic buttons to show up? the guy at xm said to leave it in map mode for 20 minutes... did that mean map mode on channel 1? or map mode on any channel?
