  1. Went to the link above and it you read the print it lists pretty much every model except the D3.....
  2. grab 3 female-to-female RCA adapters and a RCA to mini-jack AV cable. that way you can plug right into the front AV input and not mess around with the rear RCA's.
  3. I just saw a post on another board that if you turn the ipod/iphone charge setting on the D3 to off then album art appears. I haven't tried it myself but let us know if it works.
  4. All the wires including the VSS are behind the passenger kick plate - the plastic panel just to the right of the front passengers right foot. It comes off an reveals the whole mess of various control wires. I believe you have the correct wire color combo. You can run your D3 wires through the upper part of the dash by pulling off the tray panel on the top of the passenger side dash and run them down to the kick panel. You can easily tap into them there. I put a D3 in my 03 F150 SuperCrew. I have some photos of how I did my install if you'd like them.
  5. if you get the $50 composite cable from Apple, three RCA F/F bullets, and a three male RCA to mini-plug AV cable, you can connect the two wires and use the AV jack in the front of the unit as well rather than running wires out of the back.
  6. Go with a more direct quick input and take the iPhone AV Composite cable RCA plugs, attach a female-to-female "bullet" on the the ends, and then connect to a standard male RCA to mini-plug AV cable and plug it right into AV1 on the front of the unit. This avoids having to mess with the cables on the rear of the headend and allows not only for iPhone quick input, but you can put any other video source through the same AV Cable. It works as I've walked several folks on this site through this process and all report working fine. Note though, you still have to control video on the iPhone as the
  7. I just put mine in my 03 F150 Supercrew which I believe shares the same dash as the Expeditions and Navigators. It's not too difficult, but you do have to make a couple of minor cut out modifications to the mount behind the dash. I can send you a pdf tutorial if you're interested.

    D3 Good buy ?

Keep your 30g ipod and just sync it every now and then to keep it current, but keep it plugged in your car all the time and hide it in your glove box or somewhere hidden. That way you don't have to keep plugging in and out. It's better than having a external hdd because the ipod control interface is so good.
  9. cartronix plus = nightmare outfit. i initially bought my BT2000 bluethooth module through them via instant purchase on ebay using paypal. only then did i receive an email that the unit would ship 5 to 10 days after payment is received. well 5 days came and went even though i paid instantly. after slow to return email exchanges (that's the only way to get ahold of them - and it's an aol.com address so they're not really a commercial outfit - more like a garage run business) which they didn't bother to read since they kept asking for the same info twice then they claimed that my shipping info
  10. rather than send you on a search scavenger hunt - there is a quick answer: I use a OS x so I used Toast to make a copy of the DVD without any problems. The key is the nav disks are dual layer so you have to have a pc or mac capable of writing to a blank dual layer dvd. The copy works great in my D3
  11. yes, all work can be done on the harness on the back of the D3 - not the Lincoln - by either tapping or soldering the appropriate wires....
  12. Forgot to mention that nothing on the ipod/iphone audio or TV out requires 'authentication'. HDMI and some DVI signals utilize HDCP authentication but that's mostly in the HDTV/Cable box/DirecTV world. None of that business is even remotely utilized in the D3.
  13. The ipods and iphones (including the new classic) use the same old ipod cable connectors for music. I use my iphone for ipod connectivity using the pioneer ipod cable and it works like a charm. all functions work great. For video (TV out) First pick up an apple composite AV cable ($50) and either: Plug them into your AV2 input cables on the back of the D3. You'll have to extend them for quick access, or; Pick up a miniplug av cable which plugs into the front of the D3. This has an AV miniplug on one end which breaks out to 3 RCA connectors on the other. Then use 3 RCA female/fema

    iPhone w/ D3

one way around is to sync your iphone with you computer address book - i use a mac - and then syn and use an old phone with BT that will handle the transfer and send your numbers to the D3. I'm installing my D3 this weekend and I think this will work with my hacked Verizon Razr that still has file transfer over BT enabled. A couple of extra steps but what do you think?
