  1. perhaps it's just you? My iPhone 3g connects over BT flawlessly. Haven't had a single problem with it.
  2. I have an iPhone 3g, Z3, and CDIB100II. The iPhone does not connect at all. No charging, no music, no control. A shame.
  3. *emerges from hiding* Wow, I can't believe someone is actually following up on this. Awesome! I abandoned the project when I upgraded to the Z3, which fixed all the XM Icon problems. I'd like to see what you come up with though. Let me know if I can help over PM. I believe I left a few related items at the bottom of here if you're interested. *back to hiding*
  4. That's not enough info to tell. You need to do this: The thing to watch for is if you have the e-bay "mashup" image. Compare your version numbers to those on this list: [*:m7kk8wgc]Z2: Version: 02.0000 CDDB: Platform: 2.000500 GPS: 1.200000 HDD: 2.140000 [*:m7kk8wgc]Z2/Z3 Mashup: VERSION: 03.0000 CDDB: 08-01-0010 ( 2008-02-08 ) Platform: 2.000400 GPS: 1.200000 HDD: 2.130000 [*:m7kk8wgc]Z3: VERSION: 03.0000 CDDB: 07-01-0030 PLATFORM: 3.000100 GPS: 1.200000 HDD: 3.100200 And for your other question, YES, you need the nd-bt1 connected to access the phone menu. Alright,
  5. Go for it! I hope someone soon provides a similar one-stop-shop resource. Pioneer's site is (or at least was) horrible at serving PDF's. Wow... only one more post to 500. .... I may just have to bump myself to make the count haha.
  6. The folder structure is similar to on an iPod. It's broken down in an arbitrary balance so as not to overtax the system when browsing. Instead, songs and their locations are logged in an index and retrieved as necessary. I played with this a while ago and tried so see if it would be feasible to "crack" the index and drop our own ATRAC's on there (assuming we ever got a converter that created ATRAC's the Z could actually play). While it would be possible, though slightly time consuming, to learn how it writes the index and balances the file structure/load, it's all a moot point as there

  8. You're only able to "rip" music from audio CD to the Z1/2/3. This means you cannot use Mp3's on CD or dvd, nor can you rip from an "audio DVD." Besides iTunes, I'm not aware of any other applications that burn CD-text to disc. And since it's so easy, I in fact recommend iTunes, even though it does tend to seem a bit daunting to those used to winamp styles quick-players. Once you've got iTunes installed and you're library setup, make sure you're burning options are set properly. Click through Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Burning, and make sure you have "Audio CD" and "include CD Te
  9. Guys/gals, It's been fun. I'd like to thank everyone who helped make possible the Z series upgrade process (you know who you are) and a few others for their positive attitude even in the face of the same questions over and over. It's for that very repitition that I've lost interest and would like to bow out gracefully before I start snapping at noobs who don't know any better than to ask for help rather than search first. It's happening, and it's not their fault. They just want help, and that's what we're here for. So, thank you all! I've enjoyed working with each and every one of
  10. AC might work. Didn't think of that when I did mine. I did mine on DC. Put the car in neutral on a VERY gradual slope. One pin on Ground, other on what I thought was VSS. As I let the car slowly roll forward, the voltage went from 0 to 5v to 0 to 5v back and forth. This is consistent with the trigger mechanism in the VSS circuitry. Worked correctly upon install.
  11. Is your bass a separately controlled device or is it integrated into your factory amp/speakers as full-range speakers? Mine is the latter, and no matter how high I cranked my bass in the EQ, or how high I set 'loudness' it still wasn't amazing. Then I tried messing with DSP and it made all the difference. If your speakers are 'full-range' too (as opposed to isolated sub, try setting the staging to Music Studio or experiment, then tweak the EQ to compensate for the increased treble. Or it could be hardware specific to your car. In which case, sorry. I can't help =(
  12. Do you lose any other settings when you power down? Could be that the power is connected wrong and it's "forgetting" your calibration settings. Just a thought.
  13. Don't bother. The image that was up on Megaupload is damaged. Download from FTP/HTTP (same image, stored in the same place, just a different means of accessing the files).
  14. I'm not sure, but they may need to be in 8.3 format (8 characters for filename w/no spaces).
  15. The files must be in BMP format, which means you must physically convert them. Changing the extension is not enough.
  16. I've done it - it works. Put your BMP's (not JPG's - you have to convert them) in LDATA:\BG\PREINSTALL

  18. It's only free if you happen to have a spare, compatible, unlocked, automotive quality laptop HDD sitting around. Otherwise, you either need to pay the $40 like I did (well worth it if you ask me) or buy a new automotive quality drive.
  19. If you want to be able to control the iPod through the Z, you'll need the CD-IB100II. No exceptions.
  20. You do know that Pioneer doesn't update the maps, right? They get them from Tele Atlas. If you want them to update a region, simply go to their Map Insight / Update page and tell them: http://mapinsight.teleatlas.com/mapfeedback/index.php I'm sick of everybody bashing Pioneer when they don't even know how it works / that there's already a system in place for this sort of thing. Maybe if you looked into it 2 years ago it's be on the map by now... /rant
  21. At best, you're looking at a glorified AUX adaptor that feeds teh line out from the iPod's doc to the Aux on the Z2 via IP-Bus. The adaptor would have to be the last item on the IP-Bus chain, and would replace a CD changer. Control would be 100% through the iPod, and the head-unit would have to be in AUX mode. All you'll see on screen is the Head Unit's AV background and the word AUX. No charging would occur (unless it also ties in with the car's 12v system -- I've seen a few that do). At worst, it's not really an IP-Bus connector and is instead the CD-I200 direct control cable made f
  22. To mute navigation, press the speaker icon on the map screen To mute all other audio, hold AV for a few seconds
  23. If you can successfully follow Pioneer's instructions here then you don't need this. But if you want, here ya go: http://www.inferno999.com/public/AVIC/Z2UPDATE(E).exe edit: link keeps breaking up. just copy paste
  24. Someone should be able to send you the files for that partition only (SData, right?). It's only a few hundred MB rather than 10 gig. I had to do the same thing... huge waste of bandwidth. I'd collect the files myself, but don't have access to the resources at the moment. Anyone else want to step up to the plate and offer a "megaupload fix"?
  25. Guess it just depends where you live, cause it's 100% everywhere I've ever been with it. Have you reported your communities growth? http://mapinsight.teleatlas.com/mapfeedback/index.php
