  1. I think this makes the most sense. Pioneer wants to play the "Apple won't let us release it" card, but the reason Apple might be doing that is because there's something wrong with Pioneer's implementation. So, of course Apple won't give the green light until Pioneer gets it right. As for Ferrari getting it first, I think we all expected that. But once that happened, Pioneer should have had it out there shortly after. As that hasn't happened, that seems to suggest even more strongly that Pioneer still hasn't gotten their programming right and Apple keeps sending them back to fix it.
  2. Then how do you explain CarPlay being good to go on Ferrari, but not on Pioneer?
  3. More likely, the issues have come up with Pioneer's implementation of CarPlay. If it works in a Ferrari, it should work on our head units too
  4. If that's their timeframe, I'd say there's a very good chance they beat Pioneer to market. Pioneer's silence right now, so close to the end-of-summer date, speaks volumes.
  5. The fact that a version of CarPlay is now out there--on Ferrari vehicles--suggests to me that the problem has to be on Pioneer's end and has nothing to do with added features, wireless function, etc. CarPlay is out. It's been released. But for some reason, Pioneer can't provide it to us. I'd just like to know why.
  6. I'm sure all the people who are still waiting for Avicsync feel exactly the same way. What's the hurry? A year, two years...no problem.
  7. That made absolutely no sense to me. Huh?
  8. Pioneer, it's time to explain what exactly is going on. CarPlay is out. Why don't we have it yet?
  9. Interesting...is it just not visible in the video, or does album artwork not show up in the Music app?
  10. There it is: CarPlay is out, it's finished, it's done. Hopefully this means that Apple will now release the update to Pioneer, and Pioneer will get it into the hands of its paying customers. I'd been telling myself not to expect anything about CarPlay at tomorrow's Apple event, but now I've gotten my hopes up all over again....
  11. Haha yeah, I'm holding out. I can't go back to the unreliable mess that was Appradio mode. I just can't....
  12. I used the GPS MotionX and sometimes Waze apps in Appradio mode for navigation and they worked like a charm. I haven't used nav apps with my NEX yet because when I bought it, I didn't plan on using Appradio mode ever again and I didn't buy the cables for it. (That was when Pioneer was saying it would be "weeks, not months" until CarPlay would be enabled. LOL.)
  13. I started with an Appradio 3 model (the SPH-DA210) and then upgraded to the AVH4000NEX. I haven't regretted it for one second. One area in which the NEX is far superior is sound quality. The NEX4000 has a 13-band EQ as opposed to 5 on the DA210, and the time alignment feature alone is worth the cost of the upgrade. Also, once CarPlay hits (whenever that might be), you won't ever have to deal with the buggy and unreliable Appradio mode. The only way in which the NEX falls short of the DA210 is that the NEX doesn't have a capacitive touchscreen but, to be honest, I haven't missed it one bit.
  14. I have a feeling we are in for a very long wait.
  15. Yeah. I think it's going to be a while before we see that CarPlay update.
  16. Okay, thanks for the info, joemamma1954.
  17. Great, thanks. Just to be sure, do I need to plug in the HDMI cable to the back of the unit, or is there a way to connect it through the USB ports (maybe with an adapter or something)? I'm just trying to avoid pulling the unit out of the dash if possible.
  18. Would that setup also work on a 4000NEX to enable app mode?

    Class action

Yeah, I mean, we can grumble all we want, but the idea of some kind of class action suit is laughable. Being disappointed isn't legally actionable.
  20. If they just put it out now with Phone, Maps, Messages, and Music, I'd be happy. The other apps can come when they're ready.
  21. I had assumed that no one had access to CarPlay yet, but this article, published today, seems to suggest differently. In one part, it says: "Ferrari, Mercedes, and Volvo have already started delivering cars with Apple’s CarPlay pre-installed." Is that true? Are there cars on the road right now with a functioning version of CarPlay? If so, that makes me even more upset about the delay in getting the Pioneer firmware update. The full article is below: http://www.bidnessetc.com/24037-sirius-up-against-serious-competition/
  22. Thanks for the info! Excellent detective work. Hopefully, it won't take too much longer.
  23. If you go to the Pioneer CarPlay page on their site, it does still say early summer, actually.
